Founded in 1996 the ideas for the Marblehead Chowder House were actually hatched a few years before. Sitting at "The Barnacle," overlooking Marblehead Harbor one raw winter day, while the spume from the rough saltwater painted the windows and the Sam Adams Lager flowed freely, a concept was born. Casual, coastal and cozy - fresh seafood, fin fish, shellfish and hearty chowders in a warm, relaxing atmosphere that says "seaside" - a place that had tradition, patriotism, and a New England heritage about it. Fresh ingredients, house-made soups and chowders, comfort food with a twist freshly prepared to order were all musts! Features unique to New England were the foundation – Ipswich Belly Clams (aka steamers, softshells, pissers), fresh Lobster Roll, a Raw Bar with half-shell oysters and clams and, of course, live Lobsters arriving regularly. Lighthouses and other nautical décor highlight the ambience to create a coastal dining experience like none other in the greater Lehigh Valley.

Went with a large group of friends so we may have contributed to an increase in noise level! But we did sit in the bar, so hopefully didn’t disrupt anyone’s quiet meal. Food was excellent. Service was a bit slow, but they didn’t have a lot of help that night so our waitress did a great job for having to take care of so many tables. We had fun, enjoyed our meals, and will come back!

We were seated immediately upon arrival for our 4:30p reservation by a very pleasant host. Stephany, our server, was very nice, patient, and attentive. The food from appetizers, to main entree, to dessert was delicious. This was our first visit to Marblehead Chowder House but it won’t be our last.

second time in two weeks I have taken a good friend here for dinner to celebrate an occasion. Great lobster tails, soup, crab cocktails, tap beer, etc. Love this place.

Disappointed to say the least. We were looking forward to their signature clams casino, but they tasted like salsa topped baked clams. Lobster bisque is also one of their top dishes, however it was way too thick with chunks of undissolved flour. I had fish & chips which claimed to come with skin on potatoes, however, the fries on my platter must have been cut from the center of the potato - no skin; and the fish was so dry. My husband had pasta with clams, shrimp & scallops. The sauce tasted like the salsa on the clams casino. The portions were generous, salad & bread were good, as was my IPA. We would like to give this place another chance as it was pretty much packed with dining patrons so something must be good.

Worth the half-hour trip, and easy access off turnpike. King crab was amazing, as was the crab rice. Salmon had nice char on edges. Waitress was attentive, pleasant and entertaining. Even if you are stuffed, ask to see the dessert menu...great presentation!

The food we had was delicious and I can’t say enough about the Lobster Pie 🥰! Our server was very good and attentive - I was able to get drinks timely and the timing between apps and dinner was perfect . The cost was surprisingly reasonable as compared to other establishments given the current cost of food, etc. Highly recommend!

Enjoyed my time at this restaurant and my Shrimp Scampi was great. Had a good experience overall. Reccomended.
