Critically acclaimed Chef Rohit Ghai and Abhishake Sangwan will return to Mayfair - the neighbourhood where Rohit made his name and they first began to work with one another – to launch Manthan.

Manthan, meaning to churn and reflect, is inspired by Ghai's extensive international career to date, and dishes will reflect his culinary experiences – both professional and personal – in kitchens all over the world as well as the street food markets, he has frequented for over 20 years throughout India.

Drinks-wise, a concise cocktail menu has been compiled by Abhi, formerly of Trishna and Bombay Bustle. The name Manthan also refers to the churning of the oceans and references Hindu mythology.

Interiors of sleek dark wood and marble finishes, and seats are arranged around a central statement bar, providing the perfect backdrop for convivial dining, drinking, and snacking.

Exquisite food in a lovely atmosphere. Attentive service and happy patrons. The space is small but not crowded. The decor and lighting is warm and elegant while still feeling quite welcoming. The menu of cocktails and non-alcoholic options was extensive. The menu was edited to offer choices while highlighting the house specialties. Each of our six dishes was unique and super tasty.

Tha Manthan was the best place we visited in a long time, it is great for big groups, service was very quick and very nice, the food is so good, we loved it, and that is unanimous from 10 people.

The food was good and waiters were nice, however manager was quite rude. I would understand if the restaurant was busy but we were quite literally directed out. The bill was brought whilst we were still having dessert and swiftly after we got the message to leave. I understand if there was another party waiting or if it was busy but this wasn’t the case. As a party of 2 we also didn’t hold up a large space. I would have given higher but service is important and unless there was valid reason I don’t think we needed to be ushered out as quickly.

What a delicious meal and great experience. We so appreciate being accommodated since I made the reservation on the day after and showed up 24hours early! We sat at the lovely bar and enjoyed watching the bartender make delicious drinks. The service was also excellent. Thank You!

Food was great, I can’t fault it but service wasn’t to standard expected from a restaurant in Mayfair. Ambiance wasn’t elegant so best to drop by for a casual dinner rather than a classy date night.

I have been their another restaurant Kutir which was amazing, I know Manthan is not as high end as Kutir, but still the food from Manthan is just average at best. Especially the lychee lassi has got no flavor of lychee at all. Service was alright, but it was a bit shortstaffed so it was a bit messy. One of the staff took the napkin and just dumped it on me lap when I was putting out my hands to take it from her

My wife & I had been before & had a great set 3 course lunch. This time I took my son for an early Fathers day expecting the same experience. We chose the set 3 course meal again, which was very reasonably priced. However, none of the dishes had much flavour or spicing or stood out be a good dish. It didn't help have all three courses served at one on a tray & all the dishes were very small servings. I had expected a 3 course lunch to be served in 3 courses making the meal last more that the 20 or so minuetes it took to eat it. Very sad experience.

It was a great dining experience! We were celebrating birthday with family and the hospitality along with the food and ambience were terrific. Towards the end, being served a delicious pastry to celebrate the birthday (why we were there) was the cherry on the top!
