    Great ambience, great service, but overpriced in my opinion. Also was labeled on OpenTable as a lower price option, it is not. Food was good but not great….a little too eclectic in my opinion. Very cool location and ambiance, and the service was AMAZING(ask for Kat, she is awesome!)

    Staff was SO NICE and accommodated our request to have a table against the water…we were happy to wait longer for that table but didn’t have to…staff was incredible!

    Poor service, steak was undercooked so we had to wait in order to eat together. The waiter was hard to track down we were needed him. Ordered the bread pudding dessert to go which took forever and when I got back to hotel I opened it and it was chocolate cake type dessert. We’ve been to Mala numerous times over the years while vacationing in Maui, but might be time to find a different “go to” restaurant.

    Mala just isn’t what it used to be. Menu has changed considerably. It was a good meal served well, just not the great meal it was just a couple of years ago.

    I chose Mala Ocean Tavern for my birthday dinner and I’m so glad. The ambiance was lovely with a table ocean side. Our server, Joe, was attentive without being obsequious. Best Mai Tai I have ever had and I have had quite a few! Both our dinners were excellent. We’re already planning to come back. Make no mistake, this is fine dining without the tablecloths, flowers and candles.

    Sitting beside the water and watching the turtles play just adds to the wonderful meal with my wife! Great food…fish was exceptional.

    The food was very good. We ordered the fish plate. We would have given it an excellent score had the fish been slightly less cooked. The flavor was great and not overly salty. We ordered the watermelon juice and it was very fresh and sweet. The ambience was great as the table was looking at the ocean view. Price was very reasonable for fresh fish. Definitely would come back.
