We loved this place. The drive from Kalului at 7pm was dark and a little scary, but well worth it. The restaurant seemed like a place for all and where all were welcome. There was a family of about 14 celebrating a 16th bday, a group of men in the corner toasting and eating steak, various culled and numerous people at the bar. We immediately felt welcome by the hostess and our waiter, Davide. We started with the banana old fashions, recommended by Davide. They were smooth with a hint of banana. Delicious! We also shared their dynamite shrimp and a smash burger with the best truffle fries which was equally as good. A local woman at the resort we stayed at had suggested Public House for the best burger on the island. Im not sure if it was the best, but it was definitely wonderful and one that I’d return for. The best time in Maui, we may not make the drive to Hana, but definitely to Makawao Public House.

Had a fantastic dinner last night with my husband and toddler at a cozy upcountry Maui spot. The vibe was intimate yet casual, perfect for our family. The drinks were amazing, the steak was cooked to perfection, and our server, Ben, was attentive and kind. Can’t wait to return!

the food was great,our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable about the food offered. We had a very pleasant evening overall,it was a bit noisy in the restaurant though. We’ll go again and recommend to others.

I recently visited Makawao Public House and was thoroughly impressed! The highlight of my meal was definitely the Fish of the Day, a perfectly crusted Mahi that was fresh and flavorful. I also tried the Makawao Steak House plate, and it did not disappoint. The steak was cooked to perfection and came with delicious sides that complemented the dish beautifully. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Makawao Public House for a delightful dining experience!

Very very noisy. I ordered chicken and she came back and said they were out of chicken . So she ordered mahi and she came back and said they were out of mahi. i ended up with salad for dinner. She was not even apologetic .
