Magna Kainan is the passion project of Chef Carlo Lamagna, Food & Wine’s 2021 Best New Chef and 2022 James Beard finalist and Chef Max Mackissock (Michelin recommended A5 Steakhouse and Michelin Bib Gourmand awarded Ash’Kara). At Magna Kainan, just like our sister restaurant in Portland, Oregon, Magna Kusina, our mission is to share the vibrant flavors and rich traditions of Filipino cuisine and culture through a contemporary lens. Outstanding, and very unique dishes in such a fun and warm atmosphere! Chef Carlo was in the house and was so personable and happy. Service was top notch! Thanks for such a great dinging experience!

The food was amazing. The ambience was vibrant and fun most of all the service by Stephen was very attentive.

Amazing, authentic Filipino food with a modern spin. Service is phenomenal. The restaurant is fancy yet calming with a unique style that takes inspiration from Filipino culture. The drinks, cocktails, and desserts are incredible too. Especially the pandan cheesecake and ube biko. A gem in Denver.

Highly recommend going here for dinner. The food was great, no complaints there. The vibe was also immaculate.

Table of 4 and we like to try as much as possible. Food was impressive , server was great, ambience was okay but the string lights kept flickering. We did family style and the timing was a little off between each course and we got our 4th and final entree about 10 min after we finished everything else. Overall great experience. I will have dreams about the Guava & Chamoy butter!

The food was okay but not great. The skewers and shrimp appetizer were very tasty. Everything else was just okay. The food is extremely overpriced for what you get!

It’s a little bit different compared to traditional Filipino cuisine, but overall really good. Rice should not cost $4 for a cup, though. Kare-kare is almost the same price as the liempo for the amount served. I love the ambience and the energy of the restaurant. Food is better eaten if the chefs actually smile, especially since they are in full view of the customers, just saying. Already recommended this place to a friend or two.

Although it was a little pricier than what I’m used to for Filipino food, it was delicious and worth going. Standouts were the buko pandan cheesecake, lumpia, sisig, and lechon liempo. The food was served family style, so I wish they gave us bigger plates and proper utensils. They only gave us a fork and teaspoon, and we had to share 3 knives between 8 people. The dishes also didn’t have serving utensils and we had to ask for them. Seating took a while even though we had reservations and we arrived early. They also had a pretty small waiting area so we felt like we were in everyone’s way as we waited. I did like the vibe and the staff was pretty friendly. I’ll definitely come back.

I had very high hopes for this restaurant and it disappointed in every fashion. Nothing we ate was anything I would write home about. The price felt very high for what you were getting. The meat skewers while tasty, were very small. The dish that ruined everything for me was the Sisig. I ate that every day while in the Philippines and this was inedible. My party of three had 1 bite and couldn’t stomach anymore. The waiter ended up picking up a nearly untouched dish. My one highlight would be the main dish of pork belly, this was very tasty. If you want actual Phillipino food head down to Colfax for something authentic and tasty.
