Madam is a vibrant award-winning dining experience in an art-forward space, located in the stunning Daxton Hotel and open daily for dinner and for weekend brunch. Our menu is curated to complement seasonal flavors through fresh, locally sourced ingredients from local farmers, partners and purveyors. I recently visited Madam in Birmingham, Michigan, and my experience was unfortunately quite disappointing. We ordered four out of the five pastas on the menu, and each one was awful. Some dishes were overly oily, one had undercooked pasta, and the others simply had terrible flavors. Initially, the service was pleasant, and our waitress was very kind. However, this level of service was not consistent across all staff. As we were leaving, it was raining heavily. Despite having many spare umbrellas and no other guests to attend to, the valet staff completely ignored us. While I understand we didn’t use the valet service, common courtesy in hospitality would suggest at least offering assistance, especially considering the weather. To make matters worse, the manager, who had checked on us inside, came outside and mentioned nothing about the rain except that it might stop soon, in a very condescending tone. As four women of color, we felt that the way we were treated towards the end of our visit was tinged with racial bias. On a positive note, our server was extremely kind, and we tipped her well. We chose not to mention our dissatisfaction with the food to her directly. Overall, our experience at Madam was disappointing, and I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our visit.

We loved our server, although I don't remember her name. She was so friendly and helpful, especially since we needed accommodation for a service dog. She gave us plenty of time to order and recommended great food and drink choices. We had asked for a table in a quiet area and this request was honored. The prices were quite reasonable except for the bread and butter at $14.00. The menu was small. We ordered the Caesar salad, roasted chicken, flounder and lamb chops. Everything was good but nothing was memorable. We expected more from the food since Madam had been named a top restaurant.

It was an awesome experience, our very pleasant and knowledgeable server, Dawm was awesome, her suggestions for drinks and dinner was right on point. My experience with dinner was much pleasant than when I went on a Friday night, overall this is a great place
