Macon Bistro & Larder is a locally owned neighborhood restaurant serving re-invented bistro cuisine in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Tony Brown, inspired by his southern roots and his world travels, brings together the cooking styles of Macon, Georgia, and Macon, France.
We have recently opened The Magnolia Room at Macon to accommodate more diners during dinner time. The Magnolia Room at Macon is located down the hall from Macon in the Chevy Chase Arcade on the left hand side and affords guests a more intimate and spacious dining experience. Depending on volume during peak dining times, your reservation may be seated in The Magnolia Room, offers the same great food and service.

Great ambiance, service, and food in a pre-movie dinner for three. Great hot soup on a night of exceptional winter chill. Three different seafood entrees for three different diners, all excellent. Efficient, friendly, non-obsequious service that knew how to time things, so all was done before time to leave for the movie house. Bustling, cosmopolitan, but polite, non-noisy crowd provided stimulating dining backdrop.

The food was good, the service was terrible. We were rushed into an order, it took a long time for a drink (a beer) to arrive. We ordered two courses and they brought out everything at once. We were never offered a second beverage or a dessert menu. Before we finished our food they gave us the bill and turned off the lights outside and turned up the lights inside. If you’re going to be open for your stated hours of operation then be open. Otherwise change your hours of operation or don’t open at all. Either way, I would not recommend and I will not return.

Great local restaurant but good for the entire DMV. Great French and Southern dishes. Nice service which is low-key but there when one needs it.

First time dining here after seeing a movie at the Avalon. It was an overall great experience, from started through dessert. I definitely will dine here again. Staff couldn’t have been nicer or more attentive, and willing to accommodate special requests.
