Maccaroni Trattoria Italiana in the Melbourne CBD is serving rustic and authentic Italian food like its meant to be – flavoursome, simple and made with a healthy dose of Italian passion. The chefs behind this Manchester Lane restaurant are dedicated to following traditional recipes (just like Nonna used), using their knowledge from homeland Italy and adding just a touch of gourmet modernity. Freshly made pasta is undoubtedly the star of the show at Maccaroni Trattoria Italiana, ranging from gnocchi and tagliatelle to fettuccine and pappardelle.     Very much enjoyed my dinner tonight with my adult son. We were able to book an early dinner at 4.30pm before seeing the musical Sister Act at the nearby Regent Theatre. The Tagliere antipasto platter was delicious with salami, prosciutto & mortadella, creamy cheeses and tangy sides such as olives and marinated vegetables, served with delicious ciabatta bread. My son also had ravioli which he enjoyed. The ambience was wonderful with probably other theatre goers. The staff were prompt and polite and we enjoyed our meal in good time. This first time will not be the last. A real gem in Manchester Lane. Thank you for a lovely experience.

    As it was lunch time we only ordered primi and pasta. Each dish was delicious. The service was excellent and the wait staff very obliging. Ice coffee was great on a hot day. We were aware that we could not pay separately and came prepared so paying was not a problem. Happy to pay the weekend surcharge so the staff can be paid for working on the weekend.

    Food just wasn’t tasty Pasta cooked well but sauce on both were tasteless and disappointing Calamari no good . Wine good Service great

    Wasn’t happy turning up 15 minutes early for our booking to be told you have an hour and a half sitting from when you arrive. Felt liking walking out and saying I’ll be back at my booking time in 15 minutes.😡

    Charming little Italian restaurant with a great laneway location! This was a perfect choice for pre-theatre dining for a show at the Regent Theatre. Food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their chosen dishes - lasagne, risotto marinara, a house salad, and bruschetta to share.

    Food was very good. The place was small and unimpressive but not bad at all. Location es very convenient. I would definitely recommend because of the food quality.

    The staff were incredibly kind. There was a little wait on beverages but that is expected on a Saturday evening. The food was incredible every bite having so much flavour. I would also recommend the garlic bread as it was hidden away in the menu but worth the find. The value for the food and beverages was good and it had a large variety of cocktails and wines.

    It was a very relaxed and chilled experience and the food was outstanding I had the arancini balls (pesto filling) and gnocchi and it was excellent. Well worth it!
