A friend and I had an excellent dinner at Lustig last night. For cocktails, I enjoyed my Sachertorte Old Fashioned - the cocoa nib bourbon was lovely. For our meal, we had the chicken liver profiteroles and roasted butternut squash soup to start, braised beef cheek sauerbraten and venison for entrees, and the apple strudel cigars for dessert. Every course was carefully prepared and delicious. Our server, Bryan, was friendly and attentive, and Chef Mairinger came out a few times to chat with the customers. So delightful to have superb food in a warm, welcoming setting. We'll definitely be back!

This was our first visit to Lustig, and it was an outstanding experience. My wife and I tried the Austrian and German schnitzels in veal and chicken respectively, and found both delicious. We also thought the Strudel Cigars dessert was particularly inventive, as were the Seaberry Buck and Strudel Sour mocktails. We don't usually order mocktails, but were intrigued by these and weren't disappointed. Also notable were the pleasant patio environment and the attentive service from the entire staff, including our server, Brian. Convenient parking accessible from Venice Blvd at Helms, and an especially quick drive across the Westside when the 10 freeway is cooperating are additional reasons to visit this distinctive dining experience in the vibrant Helms Bakery District.

Went with friends for the first time and would definitely return. The food was fabulous with a great flavor, the service was spot on, and the chef stopped by the table to see how things were going. We started with drinks, bread and the three accompaniments, a Beet Salad and a Garden Salad. All were very tasty. Our entrees equally good.: the Austrian chicken schnitzel, Austrian veal schnitzel, Beef cheeks, and Sausage plate along with sides of Horseradish coleslaw, and Spaetzle. We finished our meal by sharing the Sachertorte.

This is the poorest excuse for an Austrian restaurant. The service was excellent but having been born in Austria we know how it should be made and taste . We were disappointed that the chef/owner was not there . We had hoped and expected to speak with him the true dialect . The venison was tough and covered with a sauce that simply did not resemble any sauce from Austria. I asked for a Holstein Schnitzel which is simply a sunny side up egg with capers. What was offered was a tomato olive capers sauce similar to a pico de gallo. It seems impossible to believe that the restaurant would not have cspers. We were celebrating our anniversary and had driven a long way to enjoy a true Austrian meal and were totally disappointed

Hi Rupert - thank you for your feedback and sorry Lustig did not live up to your expectations. I did take a few days off as my family came to visit from Austria, for someone that has worked 120h per week since January, I think you do not have the right to call me out on not being here. All the best to you! And btw we are not an Austrian restaurant ;)

Amazing twist on some of the best German and Austrian foods. We loves the Wiener and Austrian Schnitzel along with the potatoes and French Fries. Also great beer selection and friendly/attentive service.

Fantastic experience at Lustig last night. I love Chef Bernhard's creative and delicious menu. The cocktail list alone will put a smile on your face! Everything was a delight from the food to the excellent service and fun decor. A bit on the pricey side but maybe worth it in today's economic environment to keep independent chefs and their staff available as part of Los Angeles cultural fabric.

Every food dishes that we ordered was delicious. Great service, cheery and helpful. Loved the outdoor sitting with heaters, nice beer selections and cocktails. Loved the atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Thank you!!!

we really enjoy the mixed sausage and the veal Wiener schnitzel. for dessert we tried the kaiserschmarrn for the first time. Our sever was attentive, friendly and helpful. He worked the outdoor tables on Saturday October 12.
