   We had the 2 course lunch, it was beautiful food. The staff were very efficient.

   Went for a birthday treat and it was lovely as expected. The starters were delicous and the Sunday roast was lovely. Pudding was a bit disappointing as the options were all chocolate, cheescake,caramel, date pudding - nothing light and fruity to cleanse the palate. Caramel tart was over salted. Bit otherwise lovely. I would only pay those prices for a special occasion.

   The food was wonderful but the service was not great. Hopefully this is not the normal standard of service (for whatever reason) as the food and venue are great. We will try again.

   We chose Lunar as the must go to place to celebrate our anniversary of meeting 26 years ago on 27th February 1999 and as a treat as it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary on 1st January. From start to finish the experience was amazing. There was attention to detail from the minute we arrived up to when we left. Upon arrival there was a card on the table wishing us a happy anniversary from the team and we were given a tour from the very enthusiastic and knowledgable Lee. The food was flavoursome and well presented and all locally sourced. Lee noted that I do not drink alcohol but enjoy a 0% alcohol beverage and brought me a taster of the 0% alcohol wine to taste as a recommendation of an alternative to the usual choices available at other establishments. I am sure that you have the 3rd rosette "in the bag" with this superb level of excellent service, the quality food and experience given

   Dropped a star on food as both our choices of wine were unavailable but good alternatives provided Dropped a star on service as there was a wait for a side dish & had to ask for our wine to be topped up Overall a very pleasant evening with friends

    I found the experience at Lunar…. Odd. I was like it didn’t know what it wanted to be, it was a little bit up market then a little bit pub grub which left me feeling confused. The starter was tomato soup and I hope this is a compliment rather than it being soup from a tin but the tomato soup was just like we had a can of Heinz soup warmed through…. Colour consistency undeniable taste it was a little bit too good to be true of a home made copy. Our mains were ok but our desserts were a let down, one was just warm so got cold rather quick and the rice pudding was out the fridge cold which I personally didn’t find enjoyable. The decision maker of the experience was the gratuity fee. Now I always leave a tip, to feel like you should have to is pressure I think. You’ve paid for your food… but many diners asked for this to be removed whilst we were there, I can understand this to a degree, we just paid it, £15 for 3 people not that much I thought but woke to an email today to say that the are removing the fee and concentrating on putting money elsewhere? I think this puts people in a predicament as our service wasn’t outstanding, not £5 a tip per person worthy. Like we were left without cutlery whilst our food was served then our spoons came out? Just small things like that done happen in top end restaurants. I had lemon grass in my dessert that was reminiscent of a hair so out me off… just small issues. If I wanted to leave a tip I would, gladly but also knowing they are now scrapping this and I think from my experience it’s down to lots of people requesting it to be removed due to these little niggles and we paid it without question if I knew this when we went just eh day bride I’d have asked for it to be removed and left a more reflective tip of our service.
