Long before the farm-to-table trend invaded America, Louisa’s espoused this philosophy, and served food to match. The tiny-but-iconic eatery was established in 1980 and has been dishing out incredibly fresh and delicious food in the small historic yellow building ever since. The menu is all regional fare — fish caught from the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay, plus vegetables, fruits, herbs (and beautiful fresh flowers) from West Cape May’s Beach Plum Farm, augmented by produce from other New Jersey farms.

The kitchen philosophy is to cook simple, expertly seasoned dishes that are lovingly prepared and made from fresh, first-rate ingredients. The menu changes often but the one constant you’ll find here is the dedication to a great dining experience.

Amazing meal and Hannah was a wonderful server. Kale Caesar, chilled corn soup, salmon, crab cakes, pasta all cooked to perfection, followed by the best Key Lime Pie and cake (seasonal stone fruit and basil cake with a perfect hibiscus chantilly) we have ever eaten in our lives. We live in Cape May county seasonally and love Louisa’s and visit as often as we can.

Great food and service. Reasonable prices for Cape May. BYOB helps. Love that desserts are all priced the same. The average price of entrees is $33. While the menu is limited, its focus is on farm to table dining, fresh seafood, and healthier eating choices.

The food was very fresh and bright. Preparations were simple but very tasty. A nice break from some of the overly heavy meals we have eaten in the area.

Very disappointed with our visit to Louisa’s. The Cajun crab soup was more like just a tomato soup with a little crab meat. And it was served warm. Not hot. My entire entree was also not served hot. Room temperature. Along with the sauce on the side. The brown rice and cabbage had no flavor. Will not be returning.

Wonderful food, very fresh and different. The use of herbs and sustainable ingredients were fabulous. Our server Luke was great and we took his recommendations and they were spot on! All in all a delightful night and experience.

Absolutely excellent meal. My husband had the Farm Salad, we both had crab cakes for dinner (served on a bed of brown rice, with a side of cabbage salad), and I had the vanilla lavender panacotta for dessert, while he had the chocolate pot de crème. It was all fabulous, though the table we wee at was a bit too close to the neighbors to get in and out comfortably.
