Long before the farm-to-table trend invaded America, Louisa’s espoused this philosophy, and served food to match. The tiny-but-iconic eatery was established in 1980 and has been dishing out incredibly fresh and delicious food in the small historic yellow building ever since. The menu is all regional fare — fish caught from the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay, plus vegetables, fruits, herbs (and beautiful fresh flowers) from West Cape May’s Beach Plum Farm, augmented by produce from other New Jersey farms.

The kitchen philosophy is to cook simple, expertly seasoned dishes that are lovingly prepared and made from fresh, first-rate ingredients. The menu changes often but the one constant you’ll find here is the dedication to a great dining experience.

Always the freshest seafood! Limited menu, but each dish is expertly prepared. Upbeat and friendly service. Tight space. A byo which is great also

Best fresh fish on the island! I have tried the sword fish and the Atlantic salmon. Both were expertly prepared, very fresh/delicious, and generous portions for the price. Love that they don't try to over-do or upstage the fish. The sauces are on the side and are all great! The fresh cabbage and cilantro salad and steamed brown rice are very nice and let the fish stand out. I brought some Chardonnay to have with my salmon and it was perfect! Highly recommend Louisa's for a light, fresh, delicious meal! And if you are still peckish after dinner, her desserts and her chocolate bar next door are the bomb!

Everything was remarkably delicious! We especially loved the bread served to all tables and our Caesar salad. Everything was great, though. And it’s beautiful setting, cozy and quiet.

Great value in that the ingredients are all very fresh, farm and ocean to table. Simply prepared and delicious!!!! Healthy potion for the price. The swordfish with Chimichurri was simply delicious - ate it all!!! It came with brown rice and a lovely, lightly dressed cabbage salad with cilantro. Loved it! I will be back for the salmon and crab cakes - they looked awesome and table-side neighbor reviews were great!

Having reservations made seating quick and easy. They happily accommodated the request for outdoor seating. Although the seating is intimately close to others, it was a beautiful night to sit outside. The beets and bluefish rillettes, (appetizers) were absolutely delicious. The roast on the beets was perfect and there was a beautiful balance of acid struck against the typical oiliness of the bluefish. After an excellent start we were excited for more fabulous flavors. However, our main entrees (flounder and crab cakes) were surprisingly bland and colorless. The flounder and crab were both dry, the cabbage slaw had very little color or flavor, the brown rice was dry and tasteless. Even the sauce on the side was asking for more flavor. I never add salt to my food but it was necessary to eat the sides. When I think of farm-to-table, I think of food being prepared with colorful peppers, root veggies, and such. Even if they wanted to limit the seasonings, a mirepoix of carrots, onions, and peppers, or cooking the rice in a light vegetable broth would have gone a long way here for flavor. Finally, the key lime pie was wonderfully creamy and tangy tart sweet. It was well matched with the scratch-made whipped cream and was a lovely end to a mixed-results meal. Overall, the service was very good and the experience was good.

As always Louisa's did not disappoint. Wonderful food and service. It was our first time eating on the back patio and with good weather would definitely do that again. It was amazingly quiet and just the right level of music. The thing we love about Louisa's is that the menu is different all the time changing with what is available seasonally and fresh from the seafood markets and local farms.
