Before the James Beard Award and the Gourmet Magazine review, Lotus of Siam was a small little hole in the wall located in Commercial Center in Las Vegas. November 1999 was the month Chef Saipin and her husband Bill took over Lotus of Siam. Since then, Thai food became an adventure for those willing to step out of their comfort zones for Asian Cuisine. Chef Saipin’s distinct cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, from both her grandmothers and her husband’s grandmothers. Her northern style cooking has opened America into the “Northern” world of Thailand, away from the Bangkok style of sweet and tang. The northern menu consists of hearty herbs and spices, along with Thai style stews and coconut-less curries. Through her set menus, our guests can dine and enjoy recipes from over 100 years in the Chutima family.

Honestly, the best Thai food I've had in Vegas without a doubt. We had the crispy duck in red curry, the garlic prawns, and crispy rice and everything was flavorful and phenomenal!! Highly recommend.

I feel little badly about service. One guy came to order but my friends said give us few minutes and his attitude wasn’t happy about that. We just sat down like 5 seconds and didn’t even look at the menu.

I've dined here before and every visit is memorable and as delicious. Simply my favorite Thai experience thus far in North America. They have an extensive selection of alcoholic beverages including a top notch wine list. Their half bottle selection, older vintages and depth in categories including German Riesling (all the tiers from trocken to BA) offers a great match with their food. Attentive service. Highly recommend.

Hearing about Lotus of Siam and its chef I had some really high expectations, which may be unfair. I am not sure if the food was good or excellent, due to the following reasons: -When we sat down the table was still sticky as if it had not been properly cleaned from the prior patrons at the table. Had to ask twice to get the table cleaned. -Took way to much time for the waitstaff to engage our table, 7-10 minutes. -We were finally able to order some drinks and again took another 7-10 minutes to get our drinks (already sitting down 15-20 minutes) -When putting in our order the server, who was nice, he didn't ask if we were finished ordering (we weren't) and abruptly left us to put in half of our order. We had to get up from our table to flag him down and get the rest of the order in. -They forgot a drink we ordered-wasn't worth the time to flag down the server to get the drink. -when being served our apps and main courses, I felt as they were just throwing the dishes at us (like they were to rushed) I was not expecting a white table cloth experience, but a restaurant who's chef has a Michelin Star, the dirty table and and the really long wait times, killed some of the pleasure of the food. If you are also going to pay a premium price I expect better quality service from the staff. We all thought the food was good, but due to the other issues it really brought the experience and food down a couple of notches.

We have been coming to Vegas for 32 years and this is the worst experience we ever had. People we have met raved about this restaurant. The server was not good. Got my husbands drink wrong to start. We explained we had not been to a Thai restaurant before and asked for his recommendation. He suggested a duck entree and an entree with crab. At no time did he explain the cost of the crab. We were shocked when bill arrived and the entree was $125, no other item on menu was more than $45. We do not mind paying for things but this entree was not worth the cost. When we said something to him he said sorry and went on his way. We then said something to hostess team that server never explained cost. Their response was indifferent. We will never go back and intend to spread the word on this restaurants poor practices.

Wish I could be more positive, but my lunch at almost $100 for one just was not very good. The Northern Tom Kha was very nice. However, the "crispy" duck was excessively fatty and just flacid in texture. Unfortunately, the bathroom was the worst sin of all--no toilet paper or soap! YUCK! I I have been to the original location several times and the food and service was outstanding. Hope today's experience was an anomaly.
