I had an amazing birthday dinner at Lona. The service, the food, the environment was all top notch. I would highly recommend to anyone!

The food is fine. The drinks are over priced and just average. I wasn’t a fan of the corn tacos, like eating cardboard and over powered the actual taste of the shrimp which was nice. The restaurant is very nice, if you can find a nice table…We asked to move because to close to kitchen and was noisy, the front desk lady was quite put out. 3/4 out of 5 overall. Ps 3rd time visiting and I’m just not sure it’s worth the $$$.

If you are thinking of booking a reservation at Lona, be aware that they falsely advertise 3 hours complimentary valet parking online. Went to get the car after just under an hour at dinner, and they charged us $26 which was half off - the 3 hours complimentary is for nights there is no “event” downtown - which was not disclosed online. The event was apparently a concert that downtown wasn’t the slightest bit busy for, after all it was a Tuesday night. Shady behavior on the valet & Lona’s part. We would have parked elsewhere and walked over or ubered so we could drink more. As for the food, it was just okay - was kind of expecting more. Carne asada was dry, and the tortillas were way too overheated/cooked and tasted stale and broke apart as a result. Enchiladas were drowned in sauce, so would recommend having some of the sauce served on the side. Drinks were good, and our server was very nice.

We had looked forward, but were so very disappointed. The place is BEAUTIFUL, the location great and at first impression seems promising. Unfortunately, the drinks were not good. One of us sent her margarita back ‘cause it was SO SOUR she could not get past the second sip. Upon return the waiter told us the bartender had forgotten the agave!! My shrimp and crab enchiladas, highly recommended by the hostess when she greeted us and took us to our table, were COLD, literally. What?! Sent it back and got back a lukewarm dish of dry enchiladas bathed in a flovorless sauce (the same sauce used in three if our group’s dishes, all complained about the same bland quality to it). Sad to have to write this review. We are foodies and travel the world and have found some of the best restaurants here at home in Tampa. Unfortunately, Lona is not one of them. Hoping they step it up and raise the quality of the food served to people who come expecting authentic Mexican flavors by a chef that comes with a great reputation. Lona for us is 👎👎

This restaurant makes a big deal of being created by two renowned Mexican chefs. That certainly creates excitement, and the expectation of elevated Mexican food. An expectation that this restaurant fails to deliver. Don’t know how involved were those two chefs in creating the menu, but, I am sure that if they actually taste the food here they’ll be sorely dissapointed. The food here is bland, tasteless, soul less, and forgetable. Nothing really dtood out. Much better Mexican restaurants elsewhere in Tampa. Service was not much better than the food. Severely dissapointed.

Lobster quesadillas is a hit, skirt fajita was ok, steak was tough. Guacamole is very delicious. Parking is not so good .If there is an event valet is not available to restaurant customers.
