Located in the historic neighborhood of Rittenhouse Square, Little Water is the latest restaurant from husband-and-wife team, Chef Randy Rucker and Amanda Rucker. Inspired by the Ruckers' experiences living along the Gulf Coast, New England, and Mid-Atlantic regions, Little Water is a contemporary coastal restaurant that celebrates the ecological diversity of life by the sea.

The sister restaurant to the acclaimed East Passyunk Avenue gem, River Twice—which has been recognized by The Philadelphia Inquirer and The New York Times, and has earned Chef Randy’s Philadelphia Magazine’s “Best Chef” and, most recently, a James Beard Award nomination in 2024 for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic—Little Water continues the Ruckers' dedication to sustainability and local sourcing. With an a la carte menu inspired by the dynamic ecosystem of tranquil marshes, expansive bays, and secluded coves, Little Water captures the coastal spirit in a warm and lively atmosphere.

We sat at the bar. Impeccable and friendly service. The oysters were delicious and the swordfish belly was quite tasty, especially the diced apple. The sea scallops were very plump and tasty on a bed of perfectly cooked beans. The broth could have used a bit more spice or seasoning - something to make it more interesting. All in all we enjoyed our meal and definitely will return

Limited menu. Food was not good. Ordered fish which was overpriced, fried, served whole full of bones. Salad was marginal. Wine by the glass had very small pours. Won't be returning.

The food was such a delicious experience that was so memorable! The drinks are great! BUT … my ONLY complaint is….THE MUSIC. I’m not sure how the coastal inspiration of the restaurant is represented by the banjo/bluegrass/bbq music. My recommendation would be to play music of a coastal ambiance to match the essence of the food…. Then 5 stars in my book!

I'm not one to get into detailed descriptions of food or restaurants but I'd say this place is very special. My wife and I dine out quite a bit and we were really impressed. Loved the scallops (incredibly buttery), loved the gem salad (its huge), and cannot say enough about the Swordfish (we've never had it prepared like this - reminded us of a pork or chicken cutlet preparation, but I know that doesn't do it justice). In all, we were very impressed. The service was outstanding too. Can't wait to go back. Enjoy!

Couldn’t get a reservation until 9:00. It was very crowded and crazy loud. Could not hear my seat mates at all so we had to yell the entire time. Service was average, food was good but VERY expensive $30 for shrimp cocktail?!? There are other places in the neighborhood I like more. Wouldn’t go back nor recommend.

Nice to have Little Water take over neighborhood stand by, Twenty Manning. Room has not changed much. It was busy and loud on a Tuesday night. Food was very good…the “caesar-like” was great- huge and very garlicky (beware). We also loved the charred cabbage. Plump, perfectly cooked scallops. Def recommend and will be back.

The Inquirer called this the “future of dining”. If so, I’ll take a pass. In a small noisy room with music way too loud, we had an uninspired, expensive, mostly tasteless meal. The crab claws were, well, crab claws which are pretty bland. Then the squid ink rice with snails was a tasteless pile of mush with maybe, if we were lucky, 3 little snails mixed in. The encrusted swordfish at least had flavor, but the fish part itself was so thin and minimal it tasted essentially like you were eating mostly breadcrumbs. Add two small pours of wine and $125 later we finished a very forgettable meal. Philadelphia is better than this and you will get much better food elsewhere for less. Do yourself a favor and skip Little Water. Oh, and don’t worry that this may hurt their business. The place was packed because of what, buzz? Go figure.
