    Felicity was a wonderful wait staff and worked hard to make sure our dinner was lovely. She had a personal touch to her attentive style. What a gem. Several of us had the salmon and it was quite tasty. The wine selection is limited but I believe will increase. I truly wish the NLI and specifically Lionne much success. Standardize the dishes served and the service offered and it will be fantastic! We frequent the NLI so you have us sold already

    Great experience, The staff is all hospitality students and they had provided better service than a lot of other restaurants I’ve been in. The food was very tasty.

    Service from our server Abbie (from Pittsburgh) was wonderful. Friendly and professional. Love that penn state hospitality school students work here. Food was delicious. Only one small nit - the filet was a bit small for the price. That said it was perfectly done and delicious. Restaurant is beautiful (maybe a tad bright, ambiance would be better with a slight dimming). Looking forward to many return visits!!

    Food was good but menu limited. Highlights were lobster bisque, cocktails and chilled lobster in the salad. Escargot starter was also very good. Fillet was nice but covered in potato “hay” which just falls off your plate when you were trying to slice your steak. Salad came with a puff pastry that was thin cold and tasted a bit day-old. Server was friendly and pleasant, but she was too inexperienced to handle several tables on her own in a finer dining atmosphere. The service did not flow as would have been expected, drink order wasn’t taken immediately, and there was just a general confusion about the proper order of service, removing plates and menus from the table, etc. The manager did come around and ask us about our experience, and his reasoning was that it was a new restaurant, and the servers were still learning. This remodeled restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and hopefully they will get the kinks out and expand their menu as well. We will give it another try in a few months to see if things have improved.

    We dined at Lionne on a Sunday night after a football weekend which caused them to be out of two wine selections we wanted and my husband’s entree of choice. I don’t recommend dining there on a Sunday after a game for this reason. My husband enjoyed his Caesar Salad and filet. My daughter enjoyed the scallop special. I had the Lobster Salad and it wasn’t much of a salad. It was actually elements on a plate with minimal dressing. I substituted extra lobster for the duck confit but it was all very strange.

    The ambience of the new NLI is fantastic, and it is a pleasure to be there and in the stately, classy Lionne restaurant. The food was also tasty. But the prices were way too high. $75 for a rib eye steak; ~$55 or so for a filet mignon. One of the cheapest entrees on the menu was in the mid-20' or 30's (I can't remember). I had a simple salmon with mashed potatoes (accented tastefully with horseradish). The salmon was slightly overcooked for my taste, but it was still very good. The Caesar salad was about $16 and ok; it came with pickled anchovies on a lukewarm, grilled toastie (nothing to write home about), and the romaine leaves slightly wilted from the dressing. My feeling is that, if you're going to charge those prices, you'd better come through with higher quality and more creatively prepared food. We are always looking for a great place to take visitors for a meal when they come to the university. There are restrictions on how much one can spend on guest speakers using departmental funds, and taking a speaker to Lionne would easily break the budget. Too bad! I feel that it is a big mistake to charge so much – Lionne would get so much more business from visitors throughout the year if they lowered prices a bit.

    Getting Better, While the service and meal were good. The menu items listed were wrong. I ordered what, I thought were the Twin Filet Magnon. As it turned out. It came out as an 8 ounce filet magnon. When I questioned the server about and asked them to check, to see if any help could be given on the price o the entree. They came back and no because the price was already set. When I spoke to a Supervisor, who said the menu had just changed and the server was aware of the change. My perception of The Lionne is right now, the guest are there for them, not the other way around. They have been opened for almost 30 days and should have bugs worked out. And you sure don't throw your server under the bus. When you run a restaurant, take responsibility.

    We appreciate your feedback. We take full responsibility for the menu change. The serving portion is the same, except now it is not cut in half. We accept comments from our guests and adjust our menu and service accordingly, so your comments are always valuable. The change to the steak was actually in response to guest comments that they would prefer the filet as one portion instead of two. Again, we appreciate your comments and hope this clarifies it.     Having a drink first at Tripletts was lovely - growing pains aside, it’ll be a great pre dinner locale. Lionne was very good and beautiful upgrades to the dining room. We ordered the lobster bisque and it was delicious. Chunks of lobster and the creamy goodness was thoroughly enjoyed. The salmon entree was quite good and cooked just the way we asked. The escargot appetizer was a unique twist with a leek sauce around a dozen pieces and wow was that tasty. The wine selection was our only disappointment but it is the nature of growing pains with a newly opened establishment. Overall we are thrilled with the NLI and will frequent once again.
