Lilac is a modern Mediterranean restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef and California native, John Fraser. Lilac exclusively offers a 4-course prix fixe menu featuring signature elements of Chef Fraser's mastery of Mediterranean cuisine explored through the lens of Floridian coastal produce. Open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, the dining room’s walnut flooring and the warm glow from the pendant globes create an elevated, convivial space focused around an eight-seat Christian Liaigre chef’s counter in sandblasted walnut and a lively open kitchen. Taking its cues from Fraser’s Greek heritage and his admiration of Turkish cuisine, Lilac’s balanced menu is a celebration of the chef’s vegetable-forward philosophy using fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients.

The staff were very attentive throughout the evening and made us feel valued. The food was simply outstanding; each dish was a work of art and we found no two flavors alike, scallops and duck were our favorites. The service was equally remarkable; our servers were not only knowledgeable but also passionate, providing excellent recommendations and keeping our glasses full. It was clear that every team member was committed to ensuring our experience was unforgettable. This restaurant provided a dining experience that surpassed all expectations. It’s an absolute must-visit for anyone.

The atmosphere is refreshing, organic, and semi-posh. Cocktails and wine were great. The service is kind, thoughtful, and refined. It is textbook upscale service. It’s one of the better services I’ve experienced in Tampa. Our server was great. However, the food is incredibly underwhelming for $600+ (includes beverages and tip) for two people. The pull apart bread in the first course of shared apps is a little dense and doughy. The tomato tart is chewy and feels like they didn’t work out the kinks on it. I was excited about the rabbit pasta but the rabbit filling was ice cold and the pasta was undercooked, not just al dente. The beet & robiola caramelle is disappointing because it’s not actually caramelle, it’s shaved beet wrapped around robiola. I get the premise and idea behind it but it’s not even shaped like real caramelle pasta. The beef tenderloin is a slice of beef with a bunch of pea shoots. The gel is tasty on the beef dish. The lamb was disappointing because it was just a couple slices of lamb chops with two pieces of sautéed asparagus, and some leeks. The jus was good, reduced well. Desserts were solid but also lacked punches of flavor. The petit fours/mignardise seemed like afterthoughts. I see how Michelin gave them one star but also I’m frustrated with Michelin being so flexible with their ratings in the Tampa area. That meal was not one star. I’m not saying the restaurant needs to use more expensive ingredients but I feel like more effort with the food is needed if you’re going to charge $150 per person. It’s borderline a scam. Like they think people of Tampa don’t know the difference and they will fork over the money just to say they are a Michelin one star restaurant.

Love this place and will be back often! They prob could have 2 Michelin stars! The only thing (and it’s minor) is that the background music was just a tad too loud in our opinion.

Get the rabbit and sole and you won’t regret it. The only negative is the restaurant is beside the bar, which is noisy at times.

My husband and I had a fantastic night at Lilac, celebrating my new job! The staff was so professional and knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations. Everything was divine! I couldn't recommend the day boat snapper more highly. The saffron tomato broth served with it was so deliciously complex, I would return for that alone. Of course, the deliciously rich and fluffy souffle was the cherry on top to complete a perfect evening. Highly recommend for any special occasion or celebration!
