Located in the historic district, Lewes Oyster House honors the rich heritage of ubiquitous and democratic oyster consumption in 18th and 19th century Middle Atlantic taverns and oyster houses. We serve inspired tavern fare, expertly prepared with fresh, regionally-sourced ingredients along with crisp lagers, interesting wines, and artisanal cocktails. All that, and a whole lot of love.

Please join us for lunch Tuesdays through Saturdays in the Tap Room, Oyster Bar or Main Bar. We do not accept reservations for lunch.

Walk-ins for dinner are always welcome first-come first-served at the Oyster and Main bar areas, all evening long beginning at 5 p.m.

Online reservations for dinner are VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for the Walsh Room and Tap Room.

We were so warmly welcomed when we arrived. We truly appreciate when Tom stops by our table to chat. Loved the new addition of New England Clam Chowder. All those clams in a delicious soup was outstanding. My scallops were so delicate and delicious. Our server took good care of our young guests and rose to the Shirley Temple challenge! Fun night all around.

My wife and I went for her birthday dinner and had a memorable meal at The Oyster House. I was a restaurant manager for 15 years and can't say enough good things concerning our waitress Chelsea. She made us feel right at home. Friendly, knowledgeable, caring. She pointed us to a specialty entre and dessert. We eat here 3-4 times a year and love everything about the restaurant. We enjoy the coconut shrimp and low tide oyster appetizers. The lobster roll entre and house special pork burger were perfection. Chelsea steered us to the apple cider sherbet and what a treat. Tasted like a home made apple pie. The Oyster House is a must visit.

Awesome dinner with family in town from CA. Best oysters, amazing new entrees- we had the halibut and darode- both deliciously prepared! My husband stayed tried and true and ordered a burger with GF house made bun… BEST burger we have had in a long time! The cocktails were on point as usual- pain killers (both alcohol free and with, plus the gimlet for me- just divine! Dessert did not disappoint either! We had the GF French toast crème brûlée and the pear cheesecake- both great but that cheesecake- OMG! Such a great meal start to finish! Service was great and ambiance speaks for itself! One of our favorite places!!!

I tried the new seafood on the menu (Dorado) and it was every bit as good as our server described it. My also had shrimp, which were perfectly prepared.

In trying to be hip, this place misses basics. The food wasn't very good, and there was hardly any of it. My $31 halibut had about 2-3 ounces of fish. There was a meager portion of underdone roasted cauliflower with it, cluttered by a bacon/mushroom combination. The menu touted that it came with "butternut squash", which actually meant there was a strange smear artistically painted on the side of the plate. They're way too cool to sell sides; so if you want anything substantial (for example, baked potato; oh wait, that's not nearly groovy enough) so you won't go away hungry, forget. It's the chef's way or the highway. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder, but the place is so creative, what I actually received was several clams on the half shell arranged in a white soup. I sent it back, so the chef came out to explain to me the error of my ways. Oh, stupid uncultured me, to think I might actually get clam CHOWDER... They did take it back, but then I had to remind them to take it off my bill. The beer was good!

Tara from our wait staff and the oyster bar folks were awesome and phenomenal, attentive, polite and very friendly. The food was spot on, from the oysters to the scallops and burgers were delicious and flavorful, the pound cake dessert was exquisite with the ice cream and toasted cake were definitely a family tradition in this dessert recipe, keep it up
