Levant on Smith is a gem for French cuisine in Brooklyn. The food was delicious, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for the quality. We celebrated both a birthday and an anniversary here, and the staff made us feel special the entire evening. The cozy, intimate vibe added to the experience, making it the perfect spot for a memorable night out. Highly recommend!

Came here for the first time after looking this place up and can't say that I would recommend it nor would ever return. The ambiance of the place itself is nice, very low key and cute which was unfortunately where the positives ended. The drink I got (an old fashioned) was extremely sweet and felt like there was barely any alcohol in it. The food left something to be desired as well as the the cauliflower au gratin was passage but the cheese feel pretty watery. My date ordered the seabass which was decent (though maybe a tiny bit over salted) but my steak frites frankly just felt like old meat. It was EXTREMELY tough and chewy and lacked any kind of flavor. I didn't really want to send it back as the staff was attentive but the kitchen, well who knows what is going on there. I'd give it a 2/5, mostly for the ambiance and décor.

Service was outstanding, food was average A little pricey - with some cocktails the average was $130pp. We ordered frog legs - they came with flat taste with no sauce no salt no pepper - don't bother Escargot was excellent. Wagu beef tartare was perfect. Camembert cheese was average - we will not order next time Grilled goat cheese - do not even bother - those are fortune cookies without even cheese inside. Octopus was made to perfection. Scallops were great. Filet mignon was very well prepared. Duck confit - 4/5 All dessert was nice. Overall - 3.5/5

The restaurant is on a corner and has a few tables outside on the street. We had our meal in the dining room inside. It is smallish, but not overcrowded with tables. The service was very attentive, yet not intrusive. Dishes came out quickly, and were delectable. We stated with soups: gazpacho was wonderfully refreshing drizzled with fresh and high quality olive oil. French onion soup was appropriately hot and cheesy and onions cooked to perfection. The fresh Levant house salad was truly fresh and nicely dressed with yummy balsamic dressing. For main course I had a wonderful version of Niçoise salad with seared fresh tuna pieces that I enjoyed a lot, and my partner had grilled Portuguese octopus. The octopus was really nicely prepared: tender and well seasoned. We finished with chocolate soufflée which was tasty and the best surprise of chestnut fig “mousse” with vanilla ice cream. I wouldn’t call it a mousse, it had more of a paste texture, but it was a wonderful combination with ice cream and was very, very tasty. My partner asked for a glass of rosé, and we were both impressed with the choice. Overall a wonderful experience, highly recommended.

This place is a hidden gem for French food in Carroll Gardens / Cobble Hill in Brooklyn area. The atmosphere is lively, with great service. The food is amazing, with perfectly cooked meats and vegetables, and a tasty red wine sauce. The chef clearly knows French cooking techniques. We enjoyed steak tartare, tuna tartare, gnocchi , and beef bourguignon, all large and delicious. The crème brûlée for dessert was also very good. tasty French meal. Highly recommend!
