L'Escargot is London's oldest and most celebrated French restaurant serving classic French provincial dishes. It also has a great cocktail bar with reasonably priced cocktails and all day dining. Upstairs in the cocktail Bar there are live music acts every weekend.

The restaurant has welcomed luminaries such as Coco Chanel, Charles de Gaulle, Maurice Chevalier, Laurence Olivier, Lucien Freud and Francis Bacon. Princess Diana was a regular and to this day the restaurant is the home of many celebrated personalities.

It is located close to all the major West-End theatres, which makes it an excellent pre and post theatre dining spot.

The perfect French restaurant ! Exquisite food - Onion Soup, Goats' cheese beetroot and walnut, Duck confit and red cabbage, and tarte au citron each cooked to perfection, - mercifully free from excess, simply intensity of flavour. Beautifully quiet ambiance with tables well spaced. Table settings in the very best tradition. Meticulous waiter with a very special, quiet individual flair. Decor authentically sumptuous with original mouldings but with engaging display of artworks too. Our favourite restaurant by far. We look forward to returning to dine there time after time into the future.

We were 4 for Sunday lunch and everything was outstandingly good - food, drink, service, ambiance, friendliness. Loved it! Thank you everyone at l’escargot!

Had pre theatre menu, very good value and tasty. We had the duck and it was wonderful, the onion soup was tasty but very hot. Lovely décor and tables spread out so that you are not sat too close to you neighbours. There is a time limit, but it was more that adequate as the service was very good and never felt rushed. In fact all the staff were very attentive and very polite. I liked that I was able to hold a conversation as there was only quite background music. I want to bring my friend who has mobility issues and asked about toilet facilities as the ladies is upstairs. I was assured that they would be able to use the downstairs toilet and a member of staff would ensure that no men would walk in. I will most defiantly be back.

We really enjoyed our dinner at L’Escagot. The food was not only well presented but also delicious. The salmon was lovely cooked as well as the duck confit. The lemon tart was very delectable. The waiter was really friendly and we liked chatting to him. He kept making sure that everything was an excellent , relaxing time for us.
