We had out of town visitors so we decided to treat them to a special meal. The service was charming and the food was excellent. We will be back.

The food was excellent...service for the prices could be improved. I felt that they should explain the menu in detail. Many ingredients on the menu are not common. Asked for a mix drink and she brought straight whiskey... had to go to bar for my mixer. We'll be back for the food but feel more emphasis on top notch 5 star service should be part of their training.

Fantastic dinner experience. Food was wonderful- my wife had rye encrusted white fish which she absolutely loved and was big enough that she brought half of it home. She started with the house salad with freshly gathered ingredients, also excellent. I started with walleye ceviche which was a true gastronomic experience with just the right amount of spice. This was followed by curry scallops, fantastically tasty and also quite spicy. We split a dessert also well prepared. Our server was attentive and nice.

It is a long drive for us to get to Hessel, but the dinners are delicious and interesting. The waitresses are attentive and friendly and sometimes they might even sing opera to you! Well worth the trip!

We were thrilled with everything we got on the menu except for the duck. Although the flavors were very good, my husband’s duck was difficult to chew. The whitefish Thai chili was a delight, the cornbread was mouth watering and both desserts (s’mores and blueberry shortcake were delicious. The restaurant itself was beautiful and our server was excellent. We will definitely return!

Les Cheneaux is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere. We visit the UP yearly and make a point to eat there as often as possible. The service is outstanding and the food is excellent. Everything is presented beautifully.

I was disappointed that the polenta was swapped out for barley in my dish. I realize it is your last weekend, but for a vegan dish the ratio of mushrooms to barley was off balance. Too much barley. However, we will be back next year!
