From chef, cookbook author and PBS star, Vivian Howard, LENOIR reminds people that the South is a nuanced place with a storied history and disparate terrain that shapes us as well as our food traditions. Here we cook to perpetuate, honor and evolve the cuisine of the rural, agricultural South, and we back it up with hospitality that buys into the idea that food with a story tastes better. Named for Vivian’s home county in eastern North Carolina, LENOIR exalts the pillars of Southern hospitality and leaves people feeling like they are guests in our home rather than patrons in our restaurant.

Britney our server was excellent, cheerful, professional and were all the staff we interacted with. Would highly recommend this restaurant, one caviat , portions are huge!!, bring a big appetite, you won’t be disappointed.

Staff was amazing! Food terrible! I was very disappointed as it is supposed to be grass fed beef and pasture raised chicken which seems hard to find. Sweet collards, corn fitters were doughy and tasteless… no jalapeños defected. Chicken was VERY VERY salty… 🤢but a great staff… however, I have doubts about the reviews and chef. 🤦🏼‍♀️ maybe it was a off night🤷‍♀️

We traveled from our home in Wilmington, NC to Charleston to dine at Vivian's restaurant. We have been to Chef and The Farmer several times and also Benny's Big Time located right in our town and so we expected to experience many of the same great things. We were not disappointed. Atmosphere is a very "cool" vibe with a warm and friendly décor. We arrived early for our reservation and were offered the bar while we waited. The bar staff was friendly and attentive. Our waiter for our table was enthusiastic and gave a lot of attention to our table without any prompt from us. The food is the star of this show! We ordered 3 starters to share (it was a mother/daughter trip so it was 2 of us) and we were so impressed. The main courses were Sea Bass and tomato pie. I had the pie but it was too salty for me and I was nearly full by this time so I only took a few bites. Our waiter asked if I had any issues with it but we declined to share that we thought it was salty. Once it was taken back to the kitchen, another staff person came to our table and asked if there was any issues with it and so I did confess that it was too salty for me. Next, we ordered a Smores dessert and it was almost the best thing I've had for dessert ever! We got our bill and they had taken the pie off. Such an over and above thing to do and we didn't expect it at all. Lenoir lives up to the reputation that Vivien Howard has set for her establishments and I'm so glad we got the chance to experience it while in Charleston.

We celebrated our visit to Charleston by dining here . Loved the small plates - enjoyed the blueberry wings, the amazing sweet potato and fresh trout . Great cocktails too - with such clever names. Loved Hush your mouth . We loved the carrot cake for dessert ! Fresh and delicious. Our server was outstanding and knowledgeable .
