Legal Sea Foods started as a fish market in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1950, growing to over 26 restaurants today! Legal Sea Foods is an East Coast landmark, a favorite with locals and a must visit for tourists. With our own production facility and an innovative eCommerce platform, over the past 70 years we have established ourselves as a core pillar of the New England seafood scene. Famous for raising the bar in seafood quality and safety, Legal Sea Foods combines New England's coastal fishing traditions with modern culinary flair. I was rather surprised by my visit. Our server was very nice but it seemed that no one was prepared for guest. We had several employees walk by our dish laded table without an effort to clear it. Food was delivered in the wrong order and many other issues.

We enjoy the great ingredients and preps at Legal Seafoods on our travels. Now wonderful to have them close along the Riverwalk in Chicago. View and seemless flow between in and out are fantastic. Carla was super friendly and knew the offerings well. Only glitch was some timing of items — but we did arrive for a 10 pm seating after seeing a play — so not a complaint, just an observation that flow does help a meal. We will definitely make this a short list member for us as “neighbors” and especially for visitors to Chicago.

It’s right along side the Chicago River at Marina Towers Plaza level. It has outdoor and indoor seating. Service was excellent. Food was good. Ambience is excellent.

Very poor service. Inattentive waiter, had to ask for more water even, who disappeared for large stretches of time. I got up to look for him. My appetizer arrived made incorrectly, and I had to wait 15 minutes to point that out.

The clarified butter for the lobster had a unusual aftertaste as if it was not real butter

Food quality was far from what I know Legal to be in Boston. Bland/tasteless sushi, burnt haddock, and average apps. Very small crowd on a Tuesday night. I’m m not sure they will stay open long.

Decent time. Server was probably having an off night. Table of 2. Started with some appetizers. Ordered the clam chowder, octopus and lobster roll. We also ordered the stuffed lobster entree. Then tried to order the whitefish entree, but they failed to tell me it was 86’d earlier in the night. I changed my order to the haddock with a side of coleslaw. Since I needed more time to decide, my order was placed last. Soup came out. Then my haddock entree with a $4 ramekin size side of coleslaw . Then octopus and lobster roll. All items came within 15-20 minutes. Then about 7-10 mins after all those items came out the baked lobster made its way to the table. All of the food was good and nicely seasoned. Server came out to check on the dinner only after everything was dropped off. They then paused, pulled out a napkin and wiped some food off their mouth… Music choice was interesting too. At one point the played “Get your freak on” by Missy Elliot. Questionable dinner music in my opinion. Also, initially while pouring water for the table, the server missed the cup and it spilled on the table which was not wiped up until I went to the bar and asked for some beverage napkins. Hope just an off night for the server.

I should’ve known not to try a chain restaurant, but we did and were very disappointed. You can get a better lobster roll at Smith and Werenski next-door.. the only thing I could agree on was that New England clam chowder was good, how I remember it from Boston. Other than that, we won’t be back. Margarita cocktails were all lime and no liquor so we switched to wine since they can’t mess that up. Ended up going to Smith and Wolinsky afterwards to have proper cocktails.
