L'histoire du Yaca a commencé en 1964 à Courchevel, un petit village de campagne dans les Alpes françaises. Danièle et Gérard Bourderau ont trouvé l'idée amusante d'ouvrir un petit restaurant. À l’annonce de leur projet, tous leurs amis ont dit aux restaurateurs plein d'espoir que personne ne conduirait jamais 8 kilomètres sur une route sinueuse glacée pour souper. Danièle et Gérard hésitèrent pendant 3 mois, puis ont décidé : « yaca le faire », une contraction de l'expression française « il n’y a qu’à le faire », qui signifie « faisons-le ». Par plaisanterie, ils ont appelé le restaurant Le Yaca. Mais le nom est devenu populaire avec les clients, qui ont été amusé par le jeu de mots et ont contribué à la tradition du restaurant en inventant des « Yaca-ismes » eux-même : « yaca y aller » (allons-y). Danièle est venue aux États-Unis et a ouvert Le Yaca à Williamsburg. Daniel Abid a acheté le restaurant en 2001. Daniel a travaillé et a été formé dans des lieux prestigieux comme Le Pré Catelan et Lenôtre à Paris, à L'Amandier, chez Roger Vergé et pour couronner le tout chez Alain Ducasse.

    This restaurant really delivers quality, classic, delicious food! The ambience is simple but pleasing, and the service was courteous and prompt. We both had the Terre et mer combination from the 3 course prix fixe menu, which included a choice of salad or soup, a 6 ounce filet with demiglace, and a truly lump crab cake with beurre blanc, as well as several dessert options. The food here is not fusion or nouvelle cuisine, but it is wonderful, and the portions are generous. The wine selections were fairly large, although they seemed to be limited to American or French wines. We chose a Santa Barbara Belle Glos Pinot Noir--lovely! Highly recommend Le Yaca!

    The staff is always attentive and friendly but not overbearing. The food is always delicious. this is my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg.

    The crab cake was delicious. Our waiter Minh was fantastic as always. It was a very relaxing lunch with my wife and mother in law.

    Onion soup was plain & was just liquid-no onions that you could see. Scallops were undercooked. Surprisingly-service was very lacking. Waitress didn’t check on us when drinks were empty, 4 tables came after us & were complete & checked out before us, check was finally brought when we asked manager (I think was the manager) for it, and plates were left on the table when they brought our check. We were there 2.5 hours & most of that was waiting. Very underwhelmed.

    My wife and I drove down to La Yaca from Richmond. It was her birthday and we wanted something special. We decided to order our meals a la carte for no other reason than there were items we wanted on the appetizer menu and the dessert menu. My wife had the green salad, onion soup, crab crepe and the apple tart for dessert. She loved it all. I had the vegetarian salad and the scallops both from the appetizer menu. Then I had the poached peach for dessert. All were extraordinary. This was an excellent meal and all things considered a reasonably priced one for food this well prepared and presented. There is not one thing that could have been better. Thank you La Yaca for a very enjoyable evening.

    Our server, Kris, was attentive without being intrusive. Food was amazing especially the soup. Would highly recommend the dining experience here.
