Our first venture to Le Vin Perdu was not disappointing! Superb food, beautifully balanced flavours, and excellent service was what we expected having been several times to sister restaurant, Emilia's, and this was what we got. We had delicious sourdough with camembert and pickled raisins (you have to taste it to beleive how good this is) and a new cheese to us , cervelle de canut both absolutely superb. You can choose smaller plates or larger so we mixed it up and had the beetroot, mussels and aubergine ragout. Now Emilia's ragout is always exceptional ,flavoursome and rich, this was every bit as good. We were persuaded by the very helpful and attentive service staff to add the chicken fat potatoes to an already more than enough dinner but they packed them up for us to take home so not wasted. Desserts were another exceptional course- both the pear tart and the bavarois wonderfully luscious and we had to share because I couldn't decide which I liked best. Fortunately I have a very lovely husband who is always happy to share. Good coffee, nice ambience although we arrived to find a very noisy family with very young children who were a bit tired- but that's not the restaurant's fault and once they had gone it settled down to a nice easy chatter. Definitely will be going back.

I almost don’t want to say how great this place is in every way is incase I can’t get in next time I want to book!!!

Fabulous lunch. Delicious sparkling rose by the glass. Great bread, gorgeous butter, homemade pâté, tasty moules, garlicky chicken, the crispiest potatoes, creamy bavarois with blackberries, a short espresso, easy friendly service, will definitely have a green chartreuse next time. Thank you!

Only open for a couple of weeks, but quality speaks for everything. You have got to go for the chicken. The Hubbard breed is a slow growing bird so don't expect slushy chicken. It has the texture and taste of a bird grown for roasting which was done perfectly in the rotisserie oven. Chicken fat roast potatoes - yummy. Service was top class too. Very chatty and most importantly, informative. Great lunch and we will be back soon. Sorry no room for the pud!! Paulo.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Vin Perdu - chicken was delicious and more than enough for four.

Certainly the best French restaurant in Devon. Classic unpretentious food and great young wines.

A great sharing meal for the five of us: the staff were attentive and explained the menu well. The rotisserie was lovely and there was a reasonable choice of other dishes too

First time at Le Vin Perdu but definitely not the last. The food was really exceptional. Four of us all had different plates and each was as good as the other. Really friendly nice staff, calm but exciting atmosphere.l, very reasonable prices. What’s not to like?!
