We had a nice meal at Le Papagayo in Encinitas. The food was very good and the service was wonderful.

We were there celebrating multiple birthdays which was notes on advance. Waiter really needed help. He was polite but couldn’t explain the specials on the table, and generally just seemed strained ( maybe he’s new but I feel like he’s been out server previously). Food was good, great value on the special bottled wine but service sadly was a challenge. No mention of birthdays or celebrations :(

I come here quite a bit because I love the food and the live music. So I get a table in the bar area and warning it is very loud when the live music starts but I don’t mind it. I like the vibe. I have to point out that the service has improved 100% I’m very impressed. Kudos to the staff and especially to the supervisor or manager that has turned things around. I was ready to stop coming because the service was so bad, the servers didn’t seem to have any direction which is a sign of poor leadership. But the last 2 times I have been here for dinner our server was prompt, polite, smiling. Our waters were kept filled, dirty plates and glasses were cleared efficiently. It was such a different experience from previously. The food is always delicious here. Its well seasoned, nothing bland or boring here. If you don’t like your food seasoned (salt and spices) or are on a low sodium diet or sensitive to spices let the kitchen know in advance. But if you are the type person that trusts the chef to prepare your food the way they envision it then I think you will be happy with most items on the menu. My partner is a celiac so can’t eat gluten and there are a few dishes he can eat but options are pretty limited. Although it would be great if they had more gluten free options but I know that’s difficult. I definitely recommend checking it out.

We love Le Papagayo! Every time we visit Leucadia, we make sure to make a reservation for dinner here. The food is remarkable! I personally always make sure to get the mussels as a starter. Their delicious, so flavorful, hot and fresh. They have a full bar, an extensive cocktail menu, and everything is crazy delicious! We love the live music and really feel it's such a summertime vibe. All the restaurants here are amazing, but Le Papagayo is one not to miss. The manager even came over to our table last night and introduced herself. She was so personable and just very kind. We always love our time spent there.

We always love Papagayo. We ordered salads (The Wahine was delicious) and mojitos, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Loved eating outside. Service was excellent as well. We will be back!

Everything was fine but the service. We got seated outdoors as requested in the reservation, but in the sun. Although the sun was setting, it was much hotter than expected, so we were feeling uncomfortable and miserably hot. We asked to move tables. There were 3 available tables right behind us in the shade. And we were told by a staff memeber they would check to see if anything was avavailable. I was trying to be patient, but 20 minutes go by baking in the sun, no one got back to us but to take our order. Still hot and miserable, and the tables in the shade behind us still remained empty. So our request was forgotten about. We asked another staff member to be moved again but after our food was already served. We got moved but by that time, I lost my appetite and I felt like unwelcomed and unacknowledged. I just wanted to leave and not be surround by this staff. The staff tried to be accommodating afterwards but it was too late. The lack of communication between staff for a simple request was pretty ridiculous. The restaurant wasn't busy, I just wanted to move 1 table down and not be in the sun.

We eat here many times throughout the year and are not disappointed about much, however this time some of the staff seemed off. It was a birthday dinner and we had early reservations for outside. When we were seated, we had the sun directly in our eyes, so we moved an umbrella over. A staff member, who later said they were the manager came and moved it to another table. We explained that the sun was in our eyes and could we be moved to a table in the corner. He told us no because those tables were reserved. We said that we had reservations too and it was a birthday, and again asked if we could move. He said he would check but he never came back. The table that we wanted to move to wasn't occupied until an hour later and only with 2 people. We were a group of five and our fifth person had to sit on the end without a back rest. While the food and our server were great, this kind of treatment and lack of flexibility is out of character and certainly not friendly. If someone would have taken the time to check, they would have seen that a couple was assigned to the other table for an hour after us. By then, the sun was down and not directly in our eyes, so they would have been just fine.
