Le Colonial is a celebration of seductive spirit and vivid flavors reminiscent of Saigon in the 1920s. With locations in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Delray Beach (2023) and Lake Forest (July 2022), the famed Vietnamese restaurant is designed to capture a bygone era of sophistication and opulence. Heralded as "an escapist’s paradise," celebrated restaurateurs Rick Wahlstedt and Joe King deliver on exquisite attention to detail in a luxurious classic and romantic atmosphere in the iconic Market Square of Lake Forest. Please be advised that we do not hold an indoor reservation for all patio reservations. We cannot guarantee a table inside if you wish to move.

Wonderful establishment, except way too scrunched in when dining inside - had become accustomed to patio dining during summer months, which provide "elbow Room". As result, probably will not frequent much until next spring as do not enjoy dining in a high-priced establishment but being made to feel like in a phone booth ... extremely inhibits good discussion with others. Though I have always been complimentary about the service and number of staff, this was the second time in the past week that we felt it was understaffed ... not be able to bring us the side dish until already eating main entree is unacceptable.

Service and ambiance were great. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and helpful, especially with recommendations to us as first time goers. Visited as the lunch hour started; it was very quiet. We ordered yellowfin tartar, lotus root salad, roasted duck, spicy shrimp stir-fry, creme brulee, and Le Diable, and they were all very tasty. We would recommend and plan on visiting with friends in the future.

Great vibe, decent menu, and the food is always delicious. Waiter started out strong and then the service absolutely deteriorated. I brought my best friend to the restaurant to treat her for a birthday celebration. After the appetizers came, we waited 15 minutes for the waiter to appear so we could order another glass of wine. After dinner, we waited another 30 minutes for the dessert wine to come. It was very frustrating and my dearest friend’s birthday wasn’t acknowledged. Definitely did not feel special at $120 a person for a Friday night dinner.

This was not our best Le Colonial experience. We could not flag down our waiter for more drinks. Our food was not warm. I was unaware the salmon is no longer served with jasmine rice, otherwise I would have ordered a side.

Delicious meal. Very good service. Had two apps. The shrimp spring rolls and dumplings. Chicken cabbage salad and shaking beef for entrees. All tasty.
