Le Colonial is a celebration of seductive spirit and vivid flavors reminiscent of Saigon in the 1920s. With locations in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Delray Beach (2023) and Lake Forest (July 2022), the famed Vietnamese restaurant is designed to capture a bygone era of sophistication and opulence. Heralded as "an escapist’s paradise," celebrated restaurateurs Rick Wahlstedt and Joe King deliver on exquisite attention to detail in a luxurious classic and romantic atmosphere in the iconic Market Square of Lake Forest. Enjoyed a great dinner with my granddaughter last evening at Le Colonial! She is vegetarian and we were able to find choices to our liking. Such a beautiful place and great staff!

While the food, atmosphere and the server were fantastic, we were a little disappointed with the table selection. When making the reservation, we indicated that we were celebrating an anniversary that evening. We were seated in a very tight table between 2 other parties with no table light or flowers (all other tables had lights and flowers). There was plenty of seating outdoors but were not asked if we preferred indoors or outside during the reservation process or when we arrived. The table was not ready when we got there at our reservation time but we were happy to wait 15-20 minutes in the bar. We thought maybe we were waiting for a really nice table to finish up. I realize many tables are close together but there are definitely some better options. I would have hoped we would have been sat in a slightly better table (possibly outside, in a corner, etc) given the anniversary celebration. All that said, this is our second visit to the LF location and the food and wait staff are really spectacular.

Looked like a make shift table right next to the kitchen door. Small table to seat 4. Our server appeared to be extremely busy, overworked, though quality of service was very good. Overall disappointed inspite of making reservation month in advance, probably left the restaurant disappointed.

Casandra, our server, made our experience absolutely the best! It would have already been five-star based on the ambience, food and support waitstaff efforts. But Casandra took it over the top with perfectly paced service, genuine and intelligent conversation and a high level of knowledge about the menu/flavors/ingredients/pairings. She’s studying PR—consider offering her an exec PR role within your company. She’s sharp. Also it was a perfect dinner to recognize our 18th wedding anniversary.

Second time and disappointed. We ordered the same rice as first time and the quality was inconsistent. Felt rushed …we haven’t even finished eating and the crew came to pick our plates. Don’t think we are visiting again.

Amazing food! Everything we ate was great, especially the tuna tartare. Hugo was great in helping us choose the dishes. Ambiance is super nice, from the music to decoration. We will definitely come back

The restaurant is located in a good place, the interior is nice, the service is professional, but the most important thing in the restaurant is that the food was very mediocre. We were with my wife and son and all the dishes we ordered were rated three. Only the desserts were excellent. The prices for such food are unrealistically high. Alexandr
