Le Colonial is a celebration of seductive spirit and vivid flavors reminiscent of Saigon in the 1920s. With locations in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Delray Beach (2023) and Lake Forest (July 2022), the famed Vietnamese restaurant is designed to capture a bygone era of sophistication and opulence. Heralded as "an escapist’s paradise," celebrated restaurateurs Rick Wahlstedt and Joe King deliver on exquisite attention to detail in a luxurious classic and romantic atmosphere in the iconic Market Square of Lake Forest. Unfortunately, this used to be our favorite place, but this had to be the most Disappointing evening in our relationship! After 40 years of marriage, we thought this would be a great place to celebrate, but it was not. We told them it was our 40th anniversary And I even posted that in our reservation, but no arrangements were made to make it anything more special just below average me out on the town! We will not be going back because of the poor service mediocre food, noisy atmosphere and overpriced menu

Service was slow and while staff apologized there should not be that long of a wait for drinks at this ‘class’ of restaurant. Our first drink came after our food.

Very disappointing dining experience. Server somehow lost track of the fact we never received our entrees (we were asked about dessert and presented with our check while still waiting for them.) When apprised of the situation, he asked did we want them in a to-go bag and a member of the front of the house kept saying, really, you didn’t get your entrees? When they were served, my halibut was rubbery. When some contriteness was in order, we were gaslit. Won’t be back.
