Le Colonial is a celebration of seductive spirit and vivid flavors reminiscent of Saigon in the 1920s. With locations in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Delray Beach (2023) and Lake Forest (July 2022), the famed Vietnamese restaurant is designed to capture a bygone era of sophistication and opulence. Heralded as "an escapist’s paradise," celebrated restaurateurs Rick Wahlstedt and Joe King deliver on exquisite attention to detail in a luxurious classic and romantic atmosphere in the iconic Market Square of Lake Forest. Small plates were excellent. Large plates of Shaken Beef was underwhelming and the signature fried rice had a smokey/burnt flavor to it as if the oil it was cooked in burnt. Service was great, music was too quiet as you could hear everyone talking around you, hard to feel intimate.

Food was delicious (except for sticky rice - that was a miss). Service was average - we’ve had better at LeColonial; was lacking attentiveness, never asked how dishes were.

This restaurant has hits its stride....the facility is stand-out beautiful, artful, impressive. Creative. unique menu, everything prepared to perfection and served with pride and attention to detail. By far my most favorite restaurant among other great choices

We were celebrating a special occasion. We had to reserve our table for the outdoor patio because one of the guests had a recent kidney transplant and because being immune compromised could not eat indoors. We ordered drinks, many starters, main dishes sides and desserts. We were told that all of our dishes except dessert had to be served at one time. We said okay. As we finishing our dessert the captain came to our table and said another party was waiting for our table and we could go inside in their lounge! It ruined the celebration. It was there problem that they over booked. It was rude and after a great tasting and service of food it left a bad taste in our mouths. We had to cut our night short because we couldn’t just move indoors to their lounge. How rude, especially since we all have been great patrons to this restaurant for many past gatherings. Disappointed 😔

Delicious, our salads were full of flavor and well Presented. Had a lovely table on the patio. Service was slow, thus the lack of a 5 star rating

Amazing as usual. They were slammed, so we first went to the bar for a drink, VERY SLOW to be acknowledged and get a drink. But other than that, overall experience was great great as usual.
