We have been to Le Colonial before they moved. The new location is nice. The food is not as remembered. It was less authentically Vietnamese. The ribs were too sweet and not cooked enough. The side of Brussels sprouts was dry and not really a southeast Asian dish, it is a consession to what is popular food in 2024. It used to be unusual now it is a pedestrian place to eat.

Thank you so much for visiting us at Oak Street! We hope that you enjoyed our updated space. We miss the Rush Street location, but we're proud at what we feel are overall improvements at Oak. While much remains similar here, we've found that changes or tweaks have certainly been in order over time (since 1996!). We're thrilled to have a culinary team who works hard at honoring classics in addition to creating new and exciting items. We're grateful to have decades of input. Thank you for your feedback as well- we'll absolutely share it with our team and will delve further. We strive to continually improve, day in and day out. We hope that we'll have the honor of seeing you back again before long, when we hope to deliver an all-around better experience for you.

Lived up to the praise it had received, both online and word-of-mouth. Oddly, our first impression was negative upon checking in at reception desk, finding the receptionist to be quite unfriendly. Notwithstanding, all other aspects of the meal were excellent. We elected to order main courses, but the menu is such that patrons can order small plates as well. The duck and the red snapper were excellent and one should try the garlic noodle side dish if your meal doesn’t come with noodles. The decor was fittingly French colonial and set the mood for the evening. Was an excellent experience for those who appreciate the intricacies of thematic dining.

GF options were limited, which is not unusual. The GF mushroom ravioli app was amazing and far from an “allergy” meal. Their signature beef dish was delish.

Kindly note that our servers can assist guests with gluten-free options other than what's in print. The menus notate items that are not prepared with gluten in their customary preparations, however certain adjustments can be made to some dishes to avoid gluten, etc. when necessary.
