Had high hopes for this restaurant but was disappointed overall - between the loud atmosphere, arguments between the servers and the bartenders that ended up with dishes being broken and people walking out - to the multiple server experience- one of them requires gentility and training on how to serve food… I had the Coquille st Jacques and it was a bit on the salty side - my steak ok but not the best and the dessert left me disappointed… overall 2/5 - I think it’s a really good concept but needs to improve their service and improve their desserts and figure out their staffing!

Amazingly high standard of cuisine. Top quality ingredients. Great ambience. Best food I have ever had in Edinburgh. Staff were lovely and very efficient. The wine list could be enhanced with one or two more full bodied white wine options, e.g a burgundy or a Chardonnay but the Macon we found was very pleasant. Will definitely return.

Having to reschedule by half an hour, our party were welcomed and looked after by exceptional team, including the cooking. Thanks to all. Return visit planned.

This is our third time at the bistro. Perfect place if you want good fresh food , authentic French experience and good service. As always all three were excellent. If you want a pleasant evening out with your family, this is the perfect place.

Food was the highlight here, it was very good. Service was inattentive during slow off peak hours. We probably would’ve ordered more food and drinks if servers were occasionally present. Atmosphere was charming except for the horrendous elevator music - really bad soft acoustic remakes of 80s and 90s rock songs.

Le Bistrot is tucked away just a few yards from the tourist trappings of the Royal Mile, but feels almost like another world. Calm, relaxed, and authentically French. The service is prompt and professional, the food is good without being especially memorable, and it is a very nice place to spend an hour or two. The choices of desserts is slightly lacking (cakes, ice cream, or cheese), but overall, it is a very pleasant experience, and I’m sure we will return.
