The food was good as usual but the service was fairly poor. They forgot an order for a glass of wine and attracting any attention seemed impossible to rectify this and get more water again very difficult. Same for getting the bill. Pity as we love this place.

A beautiful restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. We were welcomed on arrival. Staff were friendly, professional and attentive, but didn't rush us between courses, which we like. Food was delicious. Between us we had a lamb, chicken and beef dish. We used vouchers towards our meal so it was superb value, however, it is not overpriced for the quality of food.

Lovely French fayre. Nice sàuvingnon blanc and my Brixton pale ale went down a treat. Only thing I could complain about was the price of the cake to finish. £6.50 was a bit steep though they were lovely.

Even though we had booked a table on arrival we were kept waiting. Staff weren’t welcoming. Eventually did get a table but then ignored for neatly 20 minutes. Ordered drinks but again had to wait.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Le Bistrot is one of our favourite restaurants and well worth a visit.

Great location but lacking in any ambiance of anything French. The food was sadly lacking The duck was tough and not rested so bleeding all over the plate, the sauce rather like wallpaper paste and of dubious flavour, the lyonnaise potatoes ordered as an extra as they were unwilling to substitute potato foam for any other form of potatoes were as far from lyonnaise as you could get rubbery deep fried potatoes with a bit of fried onion. The lamb shank was tender but very fatty and came with a tablespoon of sauce a bit of mashed potato and some very undercooked green beans I requested some extra sauce for the lamb and was given some gelatinous mass in a badly chipped dish. We came here as it was recommended in the Sunday times!!!!!!! Don’t believe all you read. The staff handled the situation well but we won’t be returning
