Wonderful restaurant in downtown Vienna. We tried: escargot, pate, salads, halibut, mussels, beef bourguinon, chocolate tart, and crème brûlée. They were all very well executed, tasty, and beautifully plated. The staff was exceedingly good. We look forward to returning soon.

A welcome addition to the Church Street lineup of delightful restaurants in Vienna! The mussels were fantastic. The French Bistro menu is completely different from its sister restaurant across the street, Roberto's Ristorante Italiano,and the menu and cooking is every bit as inspired.

Very disappointed. We ate there early on a weeknight with reasonable expectations given Chef Roberto’s reputation and track record. Greeted politely, names exchanged (my peculiar preference) and seated. I had had a glass of wine while waiting at the bar and there was no presentation of the label or palate sample just bottle to small measured carafe poured into glass. Though I was only patron at bar, I figured that was the normal routine. When seated we asked questions about the menu and our waiter had no knowledge of dishes other than what was written on menu; no idea how proteins were cooked or ingredients of sauces, what “vegetables” included. This is a French restaurant. Those details should be a point of distinction, maybe even pride. The food was ok to good but the experience was very underwhelming. Your manager (I would not call a maître d'). Spent the entire time behind the bar laughing and joking with one of his buddies, never glancing over much less greet or approaching our table. The bartender/waiter spent his time cleaning glasses while we waited throughout the meal for the bread that was finally delivered after the meal. It is most unlikely we will return.

we were there for brunch and though the menu was not large there were many enticing choices--we ordered the pain perdu and the croque monsieur as well as a kir royale and a mimosa--both drinks excellent--unfortunately part of the pain perdu was burnt--not pleasant to look at or to taste and the croque monsieur had an unnecessary third layer of bread which made the dish heavy--though the ham was very good it was hard to taste through the extra bread--croissants were very good--small but good and other than the fact that our waiter never returned to ask if we wanted more coffee the service otherwise was lovely--the tables are spaced well with some counter seats as well as standard tables--i believe there may also be high tops but we did not see them

The food was disappointing. The positive was the onion soup, which was flavorful. The beef bourguignon was, however, bland, and the sauce for the trout amandine was heavy and tasteless. To the restaurant's credit, they comped us for the trout after they were told of the issue. But another negative was that they do not serve coffee in the evening. That was puzzling.

Never again. We(me and my four guests) were pleasantly inspired by the menu, but extremely disappointed by the reality.

We were an hour late ( I had called) and arrived not long before the kitchen closed. The staff was kind, courteous, efficient and meal still wonderful. Thank you Le Bistro.
