LATHA, Swahili for flavor, celebrates Africa and the diaspora’s rich and diverse cuisines. The menu curated by Executive Chef Digby Stridiron honors the interconnected journey of the foodways and culture of Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and the Southern United States. Our contemporary pan-African kitchen respects historical recipes and crafts cuisine from thoughtfully sourced seasonal ingredients that reveal the connections between Africa and the diaspora. It is a journey of discovery along the trails of our ancestors, telling the authentic stories of the foodways and how they have shaped eating habits and cuisine worldwide. We invite guests to join us on a flavorful journey of discovery and appreciation. LATHA, in downtown Phoenix, in Heritage Square, is a place to have a shared immersive experience with friends or family while enjoying food, drinks, music, and culture in our dining room, bar, or outside patio. As a collective, we EAT, DRINK, and VIBE!

D'après les éditeur·rices d'OpenTable : LATHA signifie « saveur » en swahili, et lorsque cet établissement a ouvert ses portes en 2023, il a fait connaître toute la diversité culinaire de la diaspora africaine vivant au Brésil, dans les Caraïbes et dans le sud des États-Unis, attirant ainsi l'attention du magazine Phoenix et de l'hebdomadaire The Infatuation. Simply phenomenal meal experience. Our server Cody really personalized the dinner service and made it extra memorable.

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS!!! Allll the vibes! I cannot say enough great things about our evening at Latha. We celebrated our anniversary here and everything was incredible! The hospitality and energy from the staff and owners is amazing! The decor, culture and ambiance is a whole vibe! And the food was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend trying this restaurant and we will definitely be back! Thank you Latha team for a special anniversary celebration!

My friend and I were in town for the weekend, and stopped into Latha for brunch. We had an amazing experience. We were greeted by the owner and gave some of her favorite recommendations. We were then joined by our amazing server Cody, who went through several of his favorite cocktails and thoroughly explained the influence behind both food and drinks. Everything we ordered was sooo good! You could really taste and blends and African/Southern fusion. Some of our favorites included the whipped goat cheese spread, peri peri wings, fish and grits, and steak and eggs. The Guava Daiquiri was just DIVINE! All in all, we had an amazing experience and will definitely visit again when we return!

Bartenders/Mixologists were amazing and so friendly. Entire staff from the owner to everyone we came in contact with was amazing. Great food / great GF options.

Went for our anniversary. Food was good. Service was terrible. Took 15-20 min to get our water. Then our cocktails didn’t come till after our meals. They also forgot my husbands entree. Overall kind of disappointed.

I can easily say this was one of the best (if not THE best) restaurants in Phoenix. The service was exceptional and the staff was beyond kind. We went for our 6th year wedding anniversary and they had a little sign and gift waiting for us. Our server (they call them guides which I love) was so knowledgeable and checked in frequently. The food was full of flavor and love. You can tell they take pride in the quality of ingredients. I ordered the oxtail barbacoa with Mac and cheese and my husband ordered the Berbere strip steak with veggies. Both were amazing! The steak, however, is next level. The second the food hit our tongues we were transported to a world of flavor. We also thoroughly enjoyed the southern pound cake. If you’re debating on visiting, take the leap. You won’t regret it.

We reserved an outside table and of course it rained. The owner and staff went out of their way to find us and other outside reservations a plan B. The experience was amazing and the food was great.

We had a fantastic experience. The owner was so hospitable and treated us as if we were guests in her home. Drinks were potent, yet delicious. The watermelon salad was so good! I would go back for that alone! Entree's were unique and flavorful, but not salty. The desserts are a must, especially the poundcake! We were celebrating birthdays and we each got a special personalized gift. When I say everything was perfect, I mean just that.

Wonderful ambiance with live music on Friday night. Outdoor patio was lit with string lights, and I was allowed to bring my dog. Server was pleasant, explained menu, and gave us just the right amount of attention and space. Owner even came by to say hi. Food creatively allowed us to try new spices from Africa and South America blended with familiar flavors and presentation was beautiful and colorful. The dayboat moqueca dish featured a perfectly melt-in-your-mouth salmon slice with crispy skin! Wagyu steak was tender and juicy. Every dish came with vegetables which I appreciate. We did not get any kind of bread or starch while perusing the menu - it’s not necessary but would have been a nice touch. Pricing is a bit high, but I think the quality of the food and environment makes it very worth it. Latha is a really unique experience, and I would definitely recommend for a date night or celebrating a special occasion!
