LATHA, Swahili for flavor, celebrates Africa and the diaspora’s rich and diverse cuisines. The menu curated by Executive Chef Digby Stridiron honors the interconnected journey of the foodways and culture of Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and the Southern United States. Our contemporary pan-African kitchen respects historical recipes and crafts cuisine from thoughtfully sourced seasonal ingredients that reveal the connections between Africa and the diaspora. It is a journey of discovery along the trails of our ancestors, telling the authentic stories of the foodways and how they have shaped eating habits and cuisine worldwide. We invite guests to join us on a flavorful journey of discovery and appreciation. LATHA, in downtown Phoenix, in Heritage Square, is a place to have a shared immersive experience with friends or family while enjoying food, drinks, music, and culture in our dining room, bar, or outside patio. Excellent ambience, first time to this restaurant, food was excellent, service was exceptional. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Will definitely recommend.

We went for Sunday brunch. The owner is very friendly and warm, which is neat. We were the first table to be sat for that day and we waited over 55 minutes for our food to arrive. The food is good, but nothing to particularly rave about (aside from the chicken & waffles, which were exceptional). Service wasn’t great — when we asked about when our food was going to be served (because it was almost an hour wait) our server responded “are you in a hurry?” The cocktail program is very good.

Great find! The food was great and the way the restaurant was set up in small rooms made it very quiet - great for a business meeting or date night. Also, the drink menu & option to have the mixologist snake something special based on your favorite spirit & tastes was very cool.

Never experienced such warm hospitality at a restaurant before. Beautiful space with a smart crowd, great music, and on-point team service. Can’t wait to go back. Oh, and most importantly, food was amazing.

The food was amazing! I HIGHLY recommend the oxtail, but be sure to arrive early if you want to try it since it’s popular and may run out. The service was also fantastic - everyone was both professional and genuinely friendly - and the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening!

Not only was the food superb, but from the very start we felt welcomed. The owner greeted us with such warmth it felt like coming home. This Pan African restaurant has a magical chef. The food is flavored perfectly which we appreciated. Too often these days the food is over salted and spiced. They even adjusted the amount of spice for my wife’s entree. It was hot when we dined. However, the restaurant has a wonderful misting set up that kept us comfortable. We loved sitting on the front porch. We ate on Restaurant week and had a delicious 3- course meal. We typically try not to eat on those occaisons as the food is sometimes prepared way on advanced and the assembly rarely shows off the skilll of the chef. Not so here. This was fresh and generous. The arugula salad with hearts of palm, dates and peanuts was perfectly dressed with a light and bright citrus dressing. My wife fell in love with the shrimp entree and its heavenly coconut and African rice sauce. She also loved the watermelon mojito. My main was an incredible vegetarian mushroom and vegetable dish with a beautiful sauce. Deserts were equally amazing. We lingered to listen to the live band playing great music - a night that transported us to an African experience!

Our party attended an event downtown and took the opportunity to dine at LATHA. We were immediately warmly greeted and promptly sat. Love the ambiance— it was inviting and cozy, with live music being performed outside. We could also hear it inside. So nice. We had the restaurant week menu, we all devoured the refreshing watermelon salad and tried the steak, chicken and shrimp. All were very delicious, flavorful and well-composed dishes. Dessert was incredible— the pound cake and chocolate torte were rich and decadent. Would definitely come back — maybe to sit in their cool bar area. Recommend!
