Had Thanksgiving and Christmas lunch there this year. The food and service were amazing !!!!!

My family has been celebrating Christmas brunch at the Melrose since 2010, this year was extremely disappointing. The food was mediocre at best, while the shrimp were large. They had absolutely no taste at all. The prime rib was extremely tough. You could not cut it with your knife. The desserts were nothing impressive. At $92 a person with a 20% gratuity added for a buffet, I expect more !!! I doubt seriously we will be celebrating another Christmas at the Melrose.

Overall our Christmas brunch was a lovely experience, as it always is. We have been coming to this brunch for at least twenty-five years. However, this year I did not receive an itemized bill. There was no way to check to see if I was being charged correctly or if the gratuity had already been added. And, to make matters worse, our server disappeared after the check was presented. I felt manipulated and possibly ripped-off. The price of this brunch seems to go up every year and this year it was the most expensive, but there were fewer people in the party and I’m wondering if that is simply a coincidence.

Overall, we expected more from the reviews and the prior guest comments. I am not sure what was off, but the whole experience was far from great. No one's fault really, but it just was not up to what we were used to when we went to Lawry's Dallas. The rib is not cut infront of you, there's a rib station in the middle of the restaurant. The rib itself was not warm... it was also a little tough. The gravy/au jus was too salty. The crab bisque was too salty although the crab flakes were nice. The salad is something that was likely plated earlier in the day... nothing special for a place like that. The corn seemed undercooked, not too creamy. Service was ok. The main server was fine, but nothing like the service we received at Lawrys. Felt more like a diner. Overall, will not be going back unfortunately. The search for the Lawry replacement continues.

Since Lawry's closed, we've been looking for a good prime rib restaurant. Landmark is it! Delicious prime rib carved from the cart; old world charm for decor; fine service; and a visit from the general manager who promised Christmas carolers next December.

Amazing dinner last night! We had a table of 7 and Connie was so attentive and hospitable. The food was amazing from the carpaccio to the prime rib. We tried 3 different desserts. A great experience with wonderful people. The restaurant is not as busy as the bar yet so we were able to have great conversation without loud background noise. We will definitely be back.

We went to celebrate my wife's birthday. She was a fan of Lawry's prime rib. I saw that Landmark had a Prime Rib cart - was hopeful of similar experience. When we arrived, there were only two other tables with diners. Our waiter was very new. While he was very friendly, he was over his head. There were great lapses in us seeing our waiter. When our prime rib was finally served, we didn't have any knives. Waited 5-10 minutes to see our waiter and flag him over to request knives, bread service, and horseradish. Another 5+ minutes, we had our knives and horseradish. The prime rib had good flavor, but was not tender. Landmark did recognize my wife's birthday from the start to the end. That was very nice. Also, during dinner the staff was resetting the restaurant for breakfast service. Not the best atmosphere. Not a disaster, but definitely disappointed for my wife. At least it's a birthday dinner that we will not forget.
