We make British food with a classic or modern slant. We source our ingredients from the local fields, woodlands and waters. Everything is cooked on the premises, including the sourdough bread and the icecreams.
The Good Food Guide (2023) says: "A fittingly quaint old building, complete with original features, given a suave modern twist via grey panelling and contemporary furniture. Chef-proprietor Martin Peacock has built his menu on classical French traditions and impeccable sourcing and there’s real creativity and originality on show here. The international wine list offers a decent but not overlong selection, with accessible pricing.

Vegetarian: we will always offer at least one starter and one main vegetarian choice. However, we cannot cater for vegans.

Due to current government Covid-19 rules, we cannot welcome a party larger than 6p. We welcome parties 8-12p on a general basis. However, for Saturday nights we are only able to accommodate a maximum of 8p. For larger parties (13–32), we are happy to create special menus which you and your guest preorder from. The latter would be available Wednesday to Friday, Saturday lunch, and Sunday lunch.You can only book a maximum of 6 people via Open Table. Please call us if your party is larger than that and we are happy to assist to find a suitable time for you.

The carbonara starter had set. The egg was added to the dish when it was too hot and had scrambled, it was also poorly seasoned. The main was lovely! Loved the lemon sole and all other components of the dish. All flavours blended well. The snickers ice cream also to die for!!

Landgate in Rye offers excellent fine dining at a price that is very reasonable for the quality provided. Everything we were served was excellent, which is rare to find. We enjoyed fabulous bread (some sourdough and some foccacia) with a flavoured butter; an amuse bouche of breaded salt cod on romescu sauce; as a starter we shared an outstanding lobster and orzo-like pasts; and for mains we had one venison and one sea bass on black rice. Flavours were fabulous but never confusing. Really one of our best meals this year, with food coming in at c £35 per head. An added treat was a great selection of sherries and other drinks offered in testing quantities.

A most wonderful evening, the staff were very friendly and informed, the food was incredible, every mouthful a delight for the tastebuds. Best food we’ve had in ages. Would recommend this restaurant unreservedly.

Service, ambience and food were all exceptional! The amuse bouche, focaccia (best I have ever had) and bread with marmite butter were all excellent and given for free. Can’t fault anything, will definitely come back

A beautiful restaurant and the food was amazing A small menu choice but the food was very high quality - the marmite butter was superb A true gem in Rye - We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and cannot wait to return
