We make British food with a classic or modern slant. We source our ingredients from the local fields, woodlands and waters. Everything is cooked on the premises, including the sourdough bread and the icecreams.
The Good Food Guide (2023) says: "A fittingly quaint old building, complete with original features, given a suave modern twist via grey panelling and contemporary furniture. Chef-proprietor Martin Peacock has built his menu on classical French traditions and impeccable sourcing and there’s real creativity and originality on show here. The international wine list offers a decent but not overlong selection, with accessible pricing.

Vegetarian: we will always offer at least one starter and one main vegetarian choice. However, we cannot cater for vegans.

Due to current government Covid-19 rules, we cannot welcome a party larger than 6p. We welcome parties 8-12p on a general basis. However, for Saturday nights we are only able to accommodate a maximum of 8p. For larger parties (13–32), we are happy to create special menus which you and your guest preorder from. The latter would be available Wednesday to Friday, Saturday lunch, and Sunday lunch.You can only book a maximum of 6 people via Open Table. Please call us if your party is larger than that and we are happy to assist to find a suitable time for you.

Very well presented fresh local produce. Being allergic to shellfish is always a concern but I was able to have some fantastic fish without any concern. Excellent service also and at a reasonable price.

We loved the welcome and amuse bouche / bread intros. Fabulous scallops and we both enjoyed the lamb. Choice of wine was good and we settled for a dry English. Well done Landgate Bistro we heartily recommend and will be back

We had a great meal here. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Good value for money as we received a bread basket, amuse bouche and a little treat to finish with no extra cost. Would definitely recommend!

The food at this restaurant is always outstanding. The service is always very good, helpful and efficient and we wouldnt hesitate to recommend a visit. It is always good value for the money and perhaps the best restaurant in Rye.

Excellent menu using fine ingredients, superb meal. The atmosphere was very pleasant and staff were lovely and accommodated my dietary requirements with suitable alternatives. Avery enjoyable evening.

Locale curato, cucina espressa con ingredienti di ottima qualità, servizio accurato, qualità complessiva superiore rispetto alla media dei locali di zona. Da migliorare la mise en place per un locale di qualità come questo.
