Current Chef Director of Smoke- Hampton Manor and former head chef at The Wilderness, Stu emerged into the public eye upon winning the prestigious BBC Two’s Masterchef The Professionals in 2019 in which Marcus Wareing described his food as “daring”, and Monica Galetti called Deeley “the complete package”. His victory showcased not only his culinary skills but also his ability to create exceptional dishes under pressure. After working behind the scenes with the newly appointed Head Chef Patrick Hukins (previous Sous Chef of Smoke – Hampton Manor) to the kitchen team, brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to Laghi’s. The new focus on flavour-driven small plates and showcasing seasonal ingredients align perfectly with the restaurant’s continued values and commitment to a personalised casual dining experience.

We loved Laghi’s! The concept of small plates is brilliant, as you get to try lots of delicious things. Plenty of choice and everything looked and tasted exceptional. The service was lovely: attentive without being intrusive. There was a nice vibe in the restaurant: by 8pm, it was really busy.

Wonderful food and service. We’ve visited a few times but we were a little shocked at the price of the wines, the cheapest being £39! In the current climate I would think this is unrealistic for most. Could there be a few more affordable choices in addition to the higher end wines please?

We had a delightful evening at Laghi’s. For starters we had; Truffle Arancini with Parsley Mayo and Pig Heads Fritters with Basil Mayo. We are still talking about the Pigs Head Fritters now. They were divine. For main we had; Lamb Neck and Aglio e Olio. The pasta was lovely, and we would order again on a return visit. We enjoyed the Lamb, but the only comment we would make (which is entirely personal preference) was that the lamb dish was very light - which we enjoyed - but it needed another element to round it off. The waiting staff were welcoming, kind and laid back. It was decently priced, with our meal and drinks coming up to c£85 for the two of us. The overall experience was lovely (both ambience and food) and we would not hasten to return. It’s a real hidden gem. My partner claimed that ‘it was the best meal he’s had in Birmingham’ and he’s a born and bread Brummie.

Another lovely meal at Laghi's. It has a nice simple menu with great quality ingredients and friendly service. Would recommended to anyone.

Once again we had a wonderful evening here. The menu choice was plentiful. The food we chose was delicious. We had really helpful advice with choosing the wine- and it was lovely. Alongside the above, and what makes this restaurant so special, is the warmth and humour of the staff. We were made to feel so welcome. Will definitely be back for more very soon.

Food was superb, the fresh flavours shone. Service was friendly, fun and knowledgeable. Music wasn’t blaring but a bit too loud for us - surfaces are quite hard so noise isn’t absorbed but it wouldn’t stop a return visit.

Expensive meal where the food wasn’t necessarily as special as the price tag, and wine started at £39 a bottle. The service was lovely though.
