First time here. What a find. The hour drive was easily worth it. The bread service included fresh made caponata. The service was excellent throughout. We started with the artichokes and vitello tonatto. The artichokes were baked with Parmesan and were very good but the veal was exceptional. The tuna mayo was perfect. For dinner I had the veal shank with risotto and my wife had the Caramelle pasta, both excellent. We have been to Italy a couple of times and the food here definitely stands on its own. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for a memorable evening

high quality ingredients and wonderful preparation and presentation. staff are very friendly. Owners are charming. Worth every penny. Prices reflect the portions and quality. Not to be missed.

We have eaten at La Violetta many times in the past and have been very pleased but Saturday night was a total disappointment. They gave us a wonderful table and we were excited to be in a quieter location for our friend’s birthday celebration. After being ignored for over 30 minutes we asked another waiter to find our waitress. She was indifferent and defensive when we asked for water and bread. She took our order and then disappeared again. When the food arrived after another 30 minutes, my Dover sole was barely warm and flavorless. The good news was at least the birthday person had a good dish, but he was so angry over the service he couldn’t even enjoy the meal. I was too angry at this point to send my meal back or even ask for the manager. We just paid the bill and left. I can understand that things / delays happen but the server’s attitude made it impossible to even ask a question.

We have dined at La Violetta several times. The food was always good and last night was almost perfect. At the same time we are disappointed with service as this was a special occasion which we noted on reservation request. No sign of acknowledgment and no effort to follow up, which makes the reservation wishes and nuances irrelevant. The quality of service makes difference between good and mediocre dining experience and this evening puts La violetta in mediocre bucket, despite of authentic food served.

I hesitate to say how much I enjoyed La Violetta last evening because it could make obtaining reservations even more difficult, but the owners, chef, and staff deserve accolades for another remarkable meal. The dining area is pleasant. Our service was friendly and not overpowering. My husband and I enjoyed the roasted gnocchi appetizer, three-ravioli and parmigiana pasta entrees, and pistachio crème brûlée. Each was intensely flavorful. The food was as good as any I have eaten in Italy and better than many. We are fortunate to live close enough to return often—when reservations are available.
