La Viola - West offers an authentic Italian dining experience. An excellent place for date night, it has decor that includes wood furnishings, crisp linens, and soft, romantic lighting. The menu at La Viola - West includes a variety of pasta along with grilled and roasted meats such as veal, chicken, and fresh fish.

An array of desserts, hot coffees, and sodas are available to order with your meal at La Viola - West. However, no alcohol is served, although you are welcome to bring your own bottle with you. Offering catering services and designated event space, the restaurant hosts special parties and celebrations upon request.

This meal eas during restaurant week - the value was excellent. The food (I had the orrechietti dish and my spouse had the veal dish) was delicious and served very warm. The veal was tender and very thin. La Viola was not crowded because we had an early reservation (5:00), so the attentiveness of the waiter was very good. The meal came with an appetizer. I had the mozzarella, tomatoes and roasted pepper, while my spouse had the Caesar salad - again very good. The desserts, again included, tartufo and cannoli cake were of a high standard. I highly recommend La Viola ad I have dined there several times.

We had a terrific experience here. Our server was outstanding, friendly and efficient. The food was wonderful. We will definitely return!

Our whole experience here was rather poor. It was a very expensive meal for very poor quality/tasting food. The pasta portions were incredibly small, the food was under seasoned and the presentation was bad. Once the food was dropped off to us, my whole party kept exchanging glances until someone finally said “this looks really bad, right?”. Will not be back again.

The vibe was very homey and felt like I was in an Italian kitchen. Everyone had to get their own entree—no sharing a pasta and each getting a salad, for example, and that was annoying. We also felt a little rushed toward the end when we didn't order dessert. This felt like part of the vibe and experience, I suppose.

Back when I lived in Philadelphia over a decade ago, I used to frequent La Viola's original location. It was, simply put, the best Italian restaurant in the city in my view. The food was always superb, the prices extremely fair, and being BYOB meant it never broke the bank. I had not been back in a while. And that was a mistake. Although I went to the new location (Ovest), I was instantly taken back to those wonderful meals many years ago. I was dining alone, so I only ordered two things from the "summer menu." The gazpacho was a surprise as I had not encountered it at La Viola before, but it was delightful. Light, tangy and refreshing. Could have used a splash of olive oil, so I added some from the ample bowl supplied alongside the (wonderful) bread. My entree was my favorite pasta, the black linguine with seafood. Astoundingly good. Dinner was a memorable treat and a valuable lesson was learned: next time in Philly, I won't forget to revisit this truly remarkable culinary gem!

La Viola West Is one of our go-to restaurants in Center City. Our friends have never been there before are definitely coming back they said. We go there often and always enjoy it. Tonight we were a party of seven with out of town guests and they were thrilled. They thought the value was perfect and the food was outstanding. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one for the other, but not at La Viola west.
