LA Puglia celebrates the beauty of the Puglia region - in the Southern Italy - through its culinary tradition with a contemporary sensibility and aims to transport its guests right there through an authentic food & wine experience.
Calling it “an ode to the authenticity of our regional cuisines”, the prestigious Gambero Rosso International awarded LA Puglia in Santa Monica as Restaurant of the Year from among its 2023 list of Top Italian Restaurants in the world. The official press release describes feeling transported to a small town between Bari and Lecce where flavors without filters and authentic, precise cooking deliver a genuine Apulian experience.
Our menu features specialties such as fresh orecchiette with brasciole, black linguine with seafood, puree of fava beans with sautéed dandelion greens, the unique Apulian focaccia, and Pasticciotto, the decadent cream-filled pastry eaten for breakfast in the province of Lecce.

Founded in 2005, Podere 29 spans 20 hectares, with 17 dedicated to vineyards. Nestled in the northern part of Puglia, close to the Gulf of Manfredonia, the winery benefits from its proximity to the sea. Podere 29 is deeply committed to organic farming and uniquely chooses not to irrigate its vineyards. This results in lower yields but significantly enhances the quality and organoleptic characteristics of their wines. Went to hear jazz... ordered salmon and a sausage pasta dish. Salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious. Pasta dish was too al dente and tasteless

Exceptional service and food. We were there early Labor Day evening and the restaurant was busy, but the delicious food arrived promptly. Great bar service, too! Try the eggplant parmigiana as a starter, but share it because it is rich and cheesy.

We rarely leave restaurant reviews but this experience unfortunately needs to be documented . we LOVE Italian cuisine — in Italy & around the world. That bring said, we have never had an experience where we found 3 out of 4 dishes inedible & sent them back . Our server was very professional & very embarrassed. Can’t remember more than 2 other times where we have sent back a dish & this is over many years of dining out. It was interesting that no one from management came over to see what was going on. They certainly were not shy about charging for sent back food — we did not request a replacement for any of those dishes . Mussels served tepid, beef & ham appetizer tougher than tire rubber & no flavor (yes we have all our teeth) & over cooked octopus served in a bowl with pureed fava beans — so tough it was difficult to cut with a knife and in danger of overflow from the bowl landing in lap. Please not the ceramic dishes (splatter ware) and utensils are beautiful … so a lot of thought was put into design … just not the food

Just overall best Italian restaurant in Santa Monica good prices and great ambiance. The owner Victoria is the best and the staff very friendly.

If you want a taste of authentic Southern Italian cuisine look no further than La Puglia in Santa Monica. The wait staff is amicable and attentive. The food has my mouth watering for more. It was the best Italian food I had eaten in a long time.
