Chef Carlos grew up in Mexico City in a food culture as diverse and unique as any in the world. After leaving Mexico when he was 19, he spent many years working in kitchens across the US and discovering his passion for creating food that everyone can enjoy.
Hard work and dedication through his training at La Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts Institute landed him a highly coveted gig at a Michelin-starred restaurant in California before he finally made his way to Canada.
In Edmonton, Chef Carlos and his business partner - Janette, started the Casa12Doce food truck. Set up for many years, Casa12Doce became not only a staple of the food truck scene but also of the community.
The delicious, authentic food created a following so loyal that when Chef Carlos and Janette decided to open a restaurant in 2016, it did not take long for the place to fill up regularly.

I love eating at La Patrona. From the welcome to the service to the ambiance and to the authenticity of the delicious food and drink, the entire experience is incredible. Thank you La Patrona for giving us a wonderful restaurant to eat at in Edmonton.

The food was absolutely fantastic, and the service was exceptional. We had a wonderful dining experience and can't wait to return to try more dishes from the menu!

Some of the best food I have ever eaten. I had the fish (haddock) tacos 🐟🌮. These are delicious and two on soft corn tortillas are filling. The special that day was enchiladas and my partner had these and requested extra spice and LaPatrona delivered the heat. Both meals were thoroughly enjoyed.

We went for a friend's birthday and were blown away. The service was amazing, the food was delicious, and one of our party is celiac and was thrilled by the gluten free choices available on the menu. I highly recommend stopping here for a meal!

This was my second time at La Patron. Didn't disappoint. It happened to be happy hour which I wasn't aware when making reservations. So happy surprise 😊 Friend and I shared 1/2 nachos. It's not on happy hour but gave us room to share to 2 other items. Shannon was our server and bartender I believe and makes a mean strawberry slushy margarita... Delicious! I would go back.

As always La Patrona was terrific!! The food is some of the best most authentic Mexican food around!!! I’ve never been disappointed with the whole experience. From service food drinks and ambiance. This is one of my favorite restaurants and always delivers a wonderful experience!!! Muy bueno!!!
