    I had high hopes for La Mar Cocina Peruana, but unfortunately, our dining experience fell far short of expectations. The two main issues that ruined our evening were the poor service and the unbearably loud atmosphere. Subpar Service The service was the most disappointing aspect of our visit. Our main waiter, in particular, was shockingly unprofessional. His demeanor suggested that his years of experience had made him complacent and arrogant. Instead of being attentive and courteous, he seemed to disregard our needs entirely. It felt as if he believed his tenure at the restaurant exempted him from providing good service. Throughout the meal, we struggled to get his attention, and when we did, he appeared disinterested and rushed. Simple requests were met with impatience, and there was a noticeable lack of warmth or hospitality in his interactions with us. Deafening Atmosphere Adding to our frustration was the incredibly loud environment. The noise level in the restaurant was so high that it was difficult to have a conversation with my dining companions. We found ourselves shouting across the table just to be heard, which significantly detracted from the overall dining experience. The cacophony of voices, clattering dishes, and kitchen noise created an atmosphere that was more stressful than enjoyable. Conclusion Given the reputation of La Mar Cocina Peruana, we expected a memorable evening of fine Peruvian cuisine. Instead, we left feeling disappointed and frustrated. The combination of poor service, particularly from our main waiter, and the excessively noisy environment overshadowed any positives the food might have offered. I cannot recommend this restaurant to others, as the overall experience was far below acceptable standards for a supposedly high-end establishment.

    Fabulous food. This has been my 4-5th time. After a tasting event at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCCNC) Gala where La Mar had a booth, I focused this time on the Japanese themed dishes. Delicious. Try the Cebiches and Nigiris. The Nikkei and Chifa (hamachi belly) and wagyu nigiri were excellent. We also had the large entrees - the jumbo prawn in aji amarillo sauce and the wagyu fried rice. Excellent ! We were too stuffed for dessert, but I’ll have to save room for next time The Rosita Fresito was a good cocktail but with the large frozen strawberry ice ball, there very little to actually drink. So consider the large bottle which has the ice ball separate from the liquid. (The only downside is the value. Pricey if you order the appetizers plus a large entree. I recommend sharing.)

    Food was great, bursting with flavor. Food came quickly after we ordered but we were sitting for 10+ minutes before anyone asked to take our order.

    We have been going to La Mar for several Years now. It’s always consistently good. Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.

    We have been in La Mar numerous times. I do appreciate the free appetizer and the quality of the food was great as usual. However, this time I guess they were too busy, they forgot to bring drinks we ordered. We had to remind our waiter a couple of times. They did not come back to refill our water either. Hope it was just a one time thing and an exception.

    Great location and food! The cocktail menu is also interesting. We like to recommend La Mar to our out of town friends because we know they will enjoy it.

    Our server couldn’t have been nicer. We were a group of 6, but 2 of our party were delayed on BART. We went ahead and ordered drinks and appetizer, then we ordered our mains. When we found out they were on their way, our server asked if we wanted to hold our mains until they arrived. Now, on to the food!! Everything was delicious and well prepared. We ordered the Classico Cebiche x 2. For mains, ANTICUCHO DE POLLO, LAS ROQUITAS, pulpo, Chaufa Aeropuerto , arroz con mariscos and the halibut. The Chaufa , Pulpo and Halibut were standouts - but all were delicious. We had the La Guapa cocktail and love mezcal.
