La Mar Cocina Peruana by acclaimed Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio, is bringing its authentic Peruvian cuisine to downtown Bellevue, Washington, just steps away from Old Bellevue. La Mar is a celebration of the traditional Peruvian cebichería, set within a casual yet upscale atmosphere designed to take its diners on a delicious exploration of the flavors of Peru. La Mar Bellevue consists of a pisco bar and lounge area, cebiche bar including a raw fish display, and an open-air kitchen overlooking an upper and lower dining area that houses a private dining room for intimate gatherings. With the kitchen helmed by Executive Chef Kaoru Chang, La Mar focuses on delivering fresh seafood direct from the sea that exemplifies authentic Peruvian flavors. The menu consists of classic Peruvian dishes such as cebiches, tiraditos, causas, and main dishes such as Arroz con Mariscos and Chaufa de Aeropuerto.

    Opening night, Oct. 14, 2024. Really been looking forward to this, especially during my birthday month... La Mar Bellevue brings fine dining Peruvian cuisine to Seattle's Eastside with so much flair. Classic dishes like ceviche, lomo saltado, and arroz con mariscos couldn't miss with the best PNW ingredients: fresh local halibut, tender beef tenderloin, and tasty Dungeness crab. Some fun twists included deconstructed causa de cangrejo with purple potatoes and quail eggs, anticuchos were made with marinated pulpo (squid) instead of the traditional beef hearts and just melted in my mouth, the ají de gallina empanadas were light and flaky, the arroz con pato was crispy and flavorful, and the lomo was perfection with my teenage kids saying it was the best ever. Final treat was picarones and lucuma mousse with chocolate and toasted quinoa - it was sublime. The chicha was refreshing, though maybe just a tad sweet for me. Still, overall food was 10/10. In spite of a couple misses with service on opening night that can be excused for an 8/10, Chef Kaoru Chang's visit to the table was a special treat. From being Peruvian Chef Gastón Acurio's sous chef, to years at the acclaimed Nobu, and now leading La Mar Bellevue — we got to talk with him in spite of the peak dinner hour and share stories with my mom. Similar to the other La Mar locations (especially in San Fran), it's a must for anyone who wants to try authentic Peruvian dishes, with a modern fine dining approach. Peruvian restaurants (especially good ones) are pretty scarce out here in Seattle, unlike the DC metro area - so, I'm very proud as a fellow Peruvian that Chef Gastón brought La Mar to Bellevue to showcase top-notch Peruvian cuisine.     We had a great dinner yesterday! The food was amazing and the drinks a little "light" like the chilcano, it seems that it needed a little bit more pisco :). We really enjoyed the dinner with friends, and our most favorite dish was arroz con pato and tiradito.

    Love this new Peruvian restaurant in Bellevue and can’t wait to go back. The space is beautiful, service is good, and food is phenomenal. The ceviches were all to die for.

    The food was simply amazing! we had a combination of seafood and other really good samples of Peruvian dishes. We are so excited about having this restaurant in the heart of Bellevue, I can't wait to go again!
