Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

Everything was top notch. The staff was attentive and inviting. Food was amazing and they made my mom feel extra special. I can’t wait to come back!

I would like to say how wonderful everything was at Le Grande Boucherie. The service was outstanding. It is so nice to be recognized and treated so nicely. You feel like you are in a wonderful French Bistro surrounded by all beautiful things. Thanks to Stephanie, Ronald , and Michael. You will not be disappointed in this fantastic .restaurant. I can’t wait to go back.

Excellent food and ambience. Service was good and our waiter was attentive however it was a little slow! We were there for 3 hours which is a pretty long time to be at a restaurant!

Great food and beautiful ambiance. Request a table on carpet if you prefer less noise. Restaurant actually answers their phone which is appreciated.

The atmosphere was stunning, and the steak was simply scrumptious, making it a night to remember. I was blown away by the perfectly cooked steak and the exquisite flavors, making it an unforgettable culinary experience.

I wish I did more research prior to booking. Restaurant is beautiful! However, far from an intimate setting. From my experience we were initially put at a table in what I like to call server intersection, so multiple people would be hovering over our table while we try to eat. They did try to accommodate us again via moving us to the corner near the bus boy kitchen entrance haha. We ended up almost leaving then the hostess got us another table in the corner of the private section but unfortunately you really don’t get to enjoy the ambience of the beautiful restaurant. Also, note you will be seated very close to other tables. Now for service my girl ordered a red wine, but this is the first restaurant that does not do a taste pour. It was just sloshed into the glass. I go to an abundance of 4-5 star restaurants but this one failed to accommodate my baseline expectations of what I should be provided within this type of establishment. Now as for food, we order the duck and the oxtail. Lord; lol, the oxtail had no meat on the bone and the vegetables were not fully cooked through. Unless it was just garnish for the plate, the giant carrot was raw. Now, maybe I should’ve ordered a steak dish, but haven’t had oxtail in a while, I guess I should’ve waited longer. Now the waitress who was pleasant did remove it from my tab, although I did not ask, she offered and we accepted that. It was very hilarious with me scrapping the oxtail for meat, glad it wasn’t our first date. We really looked forward to coming here, but sadly it was a let down. Again all staff was nice and friendly.

Last Friday, four friends and I had a wonderful evening at La Grande Boucherie, located in the 1926 building that was originally built for the Federal-American Bank and later used by the National Bank of Washington. The building has been vacant for decades and it was a treat to see the grand restoration of one of the few DC building interiors with a protected historic landmark status. Service in the restaurant was excellent, professional, and attentive, but not intrusive. Mufti, the restaurant’s Assistant General Manager, was friendly and welcoming and took the time to explain the restaurant’s recent opening and its menu options, including his favorites. He described construction of a ‘speak easy’ in another part of the building and we look forward to stopping by for a drink when it is opened later this year.
