Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

We have eaten at one of the NYC locations three times and this is our first time at the DC one. The venue is beautiful. The service and food were quite good. But if you want a higher grade steak you can’t get it with fries. Only the steak frites allows for fries and you are stuck with mashed potatoes if you want a rib eye. That was not our experience in NYC or anywhere else where we have had steak. So my spouse had to settle for the steak frites when he wanted the rib eye.

The physical location of the restaurant was impressive. Sweeping, ornate ceiling, beautiful entry way and bar, as well as excellent service. Drinks at the bar were also expectedly prepared. My partner and I were there for our anniversary. Sadly, we were disappointed by the quality of the food. We started strong on the appetizers with a very fresh seafood salad, sort of a French ceviche. Oysters were also very good quality and nice variety. For our main we ordered a tomato salad to share and a steak frites, also to share. The tomatoes were unimpressive. A few slices were bright red, and a few were bland and not ripe enough. When you order a tomato salad, the expectation is incredibly tasty, mouth watering tomatoes. These were just blah. Second, the steak in the steak frites was quite fatty, a lot of grizzle and and not at all a nice lean piece of meat. Also, we asked for medium and it came back mooing, with just the edges cooked. French fries were good. Disappointed!

This is a relatively new restaurant and needs to smooth out some rough edges and wait staff needs more experience. However, the menu is great and the interior of the restaurant is spectacular.

My family had a wonderful dinner celebrating a 50th birthday here. Our server, Fahad, was excellent. He was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Even my teenage son commented that he seemed like a nice person! The food was fantastic - my husband said it was the best steak he has ever had. The ambience is top notch - absolutely beautiful architectural and interior design details. Really classy place with great service!

The restaurant is beautiful and the service was wonderful. Unfortunately my steak frites was ok. Not great at all. Very disappointing. Great for drinks, but not dinner.

Mo and Scott delivered an amazing experience for our Girls night out. The Branzino was perfectly done- highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back!

Ambiance 10/10, Food 10/10 Staff 100/10. I went on a Sunday morning for brunch and let me tell it was worth allll of the hype. It wasn't super busy, so the ambiance was probably quieter than usual, I can imagine with a packed house it might be very loud. Marie our waitress was both attentive and knowledgeable. She provides us recommendations and checked on us regularly. I could tell she really enjoyed working there. I had the beef bourguignon and my companion had the steak tartar, and both were amazing. We shared the profiteroles, and they were awesome, neither of us tried the cocktails BUT we will definitely be back for the Thursday night jazz set.

Everything was wonderful from start to finish. Our server Justin was very knowledgeable and attentive. Other servers of note are Emily, Stephanie and Fahad. Thank you for the amazing time. We will be back.

The pricing match the quality of the food, you can feel the authenticity of the French cuisine. We were in total six of us to celebrate my birthday we ordered the tartar alongside the Camembert with the jelly. The French onion soup was a délice and the lamb chop I ordered with a side of Mac and cheese was tasteful. We finished with the crème brûlée and the Paris Brest topped with a double Espresso.
