Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

I was unimpressed. The seats were so close together it was really awkward. So much so when the manager came over both tables thought he was talking to them. The food was ehh. Something I could’ve gotten from a hotel. A filet mignon should be far better than the one I got. The drink and French onion soup were good. And it wasn’t outrageously expensive. It felt a little rushed too. When I go out, I want to have an experience. Doubt I’ll be returning.

A great dining experience. It is so amazing the transformation of the National bank into restaurant. However, selection and flavor of food and drinks are debatably not as exquisite as the many other restaurants in DC.

Over the top presentation with Vegas vibe. Kitchen and service need to get their act together but giving benefit of doubt as only open for just two months. Food came out cold and way overpriced

If it wasn’t for Kellen stepping in to help us, I would be writing a much different review. Our waiter “J” walked away before we even finished ordering, got one of our items wrong, and NEVER returned to check on us the remainder of the evening - while serving other table next to ours. I waved down Kellen (who had seated us) to check on the remake of our incorrect item and he was attentive and apologetic. He explained the issue and then graciously comped a round of drinks to apologize for the error and delay. Ultimately, our food was good, and of course, the surroundings are beautiful- but my husband was irritated that we remained ignored by our original server and ended our time abruptly. A retraining of our server would definitely be appropriate, but thank you Kellen, for saving the meal with your kindness, geniality, and professionalism.

For the price you’d be much better off going elsewhere. We left a lot of food on our plates, which was chain restaurant quality at best. The space is nice and large, although they have tables uncomfortable crammed together.

The food was not flavorful and the service was only adequate. The kitchen or server should have told us that a vegetable that normally comes with the meal was not available. Instead they substituted an extra side order of the same side vegetable we ordered. We didn’t need the extra side if they had simply communicated with us. They did replace the side with another choice, but we had practically finished the meal before it arrived. The beautiful space is spectacular, but the food has a ways to go to become impressive.

My friends and I decided to try La Grande Boucherie-DC after reading many positive reviews about this restaurant. This restaurant did not disappoint. We were sat promptly and absolutely everything was extraordinary. This was my first time trying escargot and I’m glad I tried. It was quite delicious! The service, the environment, and the food were all wonderful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
