Located at 699 14th Street on the coveted corner of 14th and G Street NW, La Grande Boucherie is situated on the most high-profile street in Washington D.C., just one block away from the White House. The restaurant is built in elegant and ornamental Art Nouveau style, evoking the sense of optimism from the turn of the 20th century. The brasserie’s menu features both classic and modern French dishes, with focus on the meat program, raw bar and extravagant large-format meats, ideal for sharing and celebrating. Mahogany wood and glass partitions divide the gargantuan space to create intimate dining experiences. These pieces are adorned in gilded accents and uniquely curved arches inspired by the 20th-century Art Nouveau movement of Paris. The main dining room highlights a massive curved bar with a metal top imported from Paris, a signature piece of Boucherie.

Service was incredibly slow. Tuna Niçoise salad had a few rubbery pieces of tuna covered in basalmic dressing - no green beans or olives or anything that a Niçoise salad would normally have. Poor waiter admitted they were booked at capacity but it’s NOTHING like the New York location. Avoid.

Had a lovely Monday night dinner at La Grande Boucherie. The space is phenomenal, food is solid (hanger steak frites, mussels), wine was excellent (and great value with 50% off), and service was outstanding. Highly recommend.

The decor and styling of this restaurant is stunning! They have done an amazing job of keeping the history of the building while making it feel modern. Our server, Bolande, was also amazing- very knowledgeable and attentive! The biggest weakness in our dining experience was, sadly, the food. We ordered a starter of charcuterie and cheese, which were excellent. We also ordered French onion soup and Caesar salad…both average at best. We finished with the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce, again, which was just average. For the price, I am expecting and hoping for food that is very memorable. I would return again for a cocktail and starter, but not sure for an entire dinner meal.

The place is really pretty. BUT the sommelier “Armando” ruined our night. He was SO RUDE and zero class - brought us the wrong wine bottle with an attitude and angry face - We complained to the manager who was really sad to hear this but we left…. He really treated us like garbage. In other words just go to the bar for a drink don’t bother having diner there. This Armando should be FIRED or trained again he should NOT be in hospitality!!!

We had a very good experience today , host make us feel very welcome and the waiter did a great job , very kind staff and kitchen looks very organized, drinks are very good, brunch’s highly recommend it, definitely coming back again,

I came back to La Boucherie recently, and it blew me away all over again! The first time I visited was on a work trip, but this time, I got to bring my family, which made it even better. We kicked things off with mussels and a cheese charcuterie board, and wow—every bite was perfect. The mussels were plump and so flavorful, and the charcuterie was beautifully arranged with cheeses that paired so well with the rest of our meal. Then came the main event: the steaks. Each of us tried a different cut, and every single one was cooked just right. Juicy, tender, and seasoned perfectly—it’s clear they know exactly what they’re doing with steak here. My family loved it just as much as I did the first time. La Boucherie isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a whole experience. Can’t wait to come back for round three !
